Greetings NVAL Members,
I hope this beautiful season finds you enjoying the warmer days and cool evenings! It’s been an active and inspiring time at the gallery, with classes underway and several exciting opportunities ahead:
At the end of May, Pam Llano will teach Flower Power, an abstract expressionist floral class. In June, Mel Jackson returns with a new watercolor workshop series, followed in July by Doug Souza and his popular Scratchboard class. Audrey Peck has also brought back her Figure Drawing class, now meeting twice monthly. If you haven’t yet taken a class at NVAL, I encourage you to join us—they’re a wonderful way to grow your skills while connecting with fellow artists.
There is still time to participate in our collaborative exhibition with Siskiyou Art Museum. Voices of the Land invites both traditional and contemporary interpretations of Northern California landscapes and welcomes 2D and 3D work, including fiber and mixed media. Submissions are open thru May 25th, accessible via our website, and cash prizes will be awarded.
As we look ahead, I’d like to highlight how vital member involvement is to everything we do and to thank those who help make NVAL a success. NVAL is a volunteer-driven organization and the programs we all value—our workshops, juried shows, and exhibits—exist because members step forward to make them happen. Our organization is dependent on those efforts and your participation helps ensure we can continue offering these opportunities while maintaining the welcoming, creative space we all so deeply value.
We currently need gallery attendants who can commit to one day a month to staff the front desk, as well as a member with organizational experience to lead our Juried Show and Workshop Committee. If you’ve been considering getting more involved, we would love to hear from you (info@nval.org).
With appreciation,
Sue Mandel
