NVCT NEWS

Glebe House in Arlington, Virginia, will open its grounds for tours Saturday, March 28th, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. This year marks eleven years of preservation under a conservation easement held by the Northern Virginia Conservation Trust (NVCT). The Arlington Historical Society, which was founded at the Glebe House in 1956, will co-host and offer guided tours of the grounds. The historic Octagon-shaped landmark has witnessed much of Arlington’s long history.

Come tour the grounds, meet staff, and take a step back into history!

Lore of the Land

Heron Count: Through the Years

For more than two decades, NVCT and its partners have tracked the rise and fall of Great Blue Heron nests at Crow’s Nest Natural Area Preserve. Each nest count offers new insight into how weather, water, and conservation efforts shape one of the largest heron rookeries in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. This year we decided to take a look back at previous nest counts, not just to compare numbers but to reflect on the importance of this yearly tradition and what's changed over the years!
