NEARBY NATURE NEWSLETTER

Stakeholder Notification/Public Notice

The Land Trust Accreditation Program recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever. The Northern Virginia Conservation Trust is pleased to announce it is applying for renewal of its accreditation. A public comment period is now open.

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs. Accreditation is important to the Northern Virginia Conservation Trust because it represents a mark of excellence in our field that landowners and partners can count on when working with us.

The Commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how Northern Virginia Conservation Trust complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. For the full list of standards see http://www.landtrustaccreditation.org/help-and-resources/indicator-practices.

To learn more about the accreditation program and to submit a comment, visit www.landtrustaccreditation.org, or email your comment to info@landtrustaccreditation.org. Comments may also be mailed to the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, Attn: Public Comments, 36 Phila Street, Suite 2, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

Sheehy Subaru of Fredericksburg Donates $20,000

We are thrilled to announce that Sheehy Subaru of Fredericksburghas once again generously donated $20,000 to NVCT through the Subaru Share the Love® Event.

Over the last 16 years, through its Share the Love® Event, Subaru and its participating retailers have donated more than $285 million to charity, with customers choosing between four national charities and over 2,100 hometown charities.

The most recent campaign ran from November 2023 through January 2024. Subaru of America donated $250 and Sheehy Subaru of Fredericksburg donated $50 for every car sold during this time, and an additional $5 for every Subaru that had routine maintenance during the event.

To date, the Share the Love Event has raised $40,000 in support of our conservation efforts and we are thrilled to report that Sheehy has selected NVCT to be their hometown charity partner for the third year in a row.

So if you are in the market for some new wheels, check out our friends at Sheehy Subaru of Fredericksburg whose commitment will help preserve our region's natural beauty for generations to come.
