Healthy moms and children strengthen Nevada
NV Statewide Maternal and Child Health Coalition

Welcome New Members
Elizabeth Kessler

May is Maternal Mental Health Month  when private and public organizations focused on maternal health  promote programs designed to increase awareness of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMAD). Increasing awareness of the symptoms, local resources, treatment options and impact of PMAD on parents, families and communities helps everyone!  Over 4 million babies are born every year in the U.S. and pregnant women, new moms and families experiencing PMAD need to know they are not alone and with help they will get better. The MCH Coalition is working to educate and raise awareness of PMAD and is offering 90 minute training's aimed at professionals and related MCH stakeholders to support moms and families. Please contact the Coalition Coordinator  if you would like to schedule a training (minimum 10 people per training).

MCH Coalition Mission:
To provide leadership in partnership with public and private organizations to improve the physical and mental health, safety and well-being of the maternal and child health population in Nevada including children with special health care needs.

Please help in recruiting new members that can support the mission.

As part of the Title V Block Grant, the program that distributes funds to grantees, there is a section for the public to voice their opinions regarding issues concerning women of child bearing age, pregnant women, infants, children, adolescents, and children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN).  Since you are a valued member of the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) community, your opinion is very important.  Please complete the survey by May 22, 2017. The survey should take approximately 5 minutes, and your information will remain confidential.  Thank you so much for your time.

The Administrator will take Board recommendations under consideration for possible forwarding as recommendations to the State Board of Health for consideration for appointment.
The purpose and objectives of the MCHAB can be found in Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) 442.137 here.
Further information and past meeting minutes of the MCHAB can be found here.
