◈ Draft Bus Rapid Transit Action Plan Update ◈

We're taking strides forward to bring more BRT to the DMV. We’ve already invested $850M+ in five Bus Rapid Transit lines and we're just getting started.

In April, we launched a Draft Action Plan for a regionally connected BRT system, identifying up to 28 potential BRT routes across NoVA and beyond. This visionary blueprint is a major starting point for bringing more fast, frequent and reliable transit service to our region.

NVTA greatly appreciates the feedback received during the recent public comment period and is excited to share some key findings.

What Our Community is Saying⭐

Findings from our most recent survey, which closed in mid-May, indicated strong and positive responses from the community regarding the potential for a regionally-connected BRT system.

An average of 72% of respondents said they would consider using BRT if it were available in their area. Interest was especially high among residents of Arlington County and the City of Falls Church, where 86% indicated they would use BRT if it were available. In terms of service frequency, respondents indicated they would likely use BRT three days per week, on average.

We received 1,518 comments across seven open-ended survey questions. Only 5% of the feedback was considered negative or unsupportive, highlighting the strong community support for advancing plans to develop a regionally-connected BRT system across Northern Virginia and beyond.

NVTA Day in the Town of Hillsboro

The Town of Hillsboro formally proclaimed June 18 as NVTA Day to recognize the Authority members’ vote to fund the Rethink Route 9 Project, one of the first transportation projects in NVTA’s inaugural Six Year Program. We appreciate the Town’s recognition of our shared commitment to enhancing mobility across the region.

Route 7 Project Anniversary

June 28 marks four years since the completion of the Route 7 at Battlefield Parkway Interchange Project. NVTA invested $58 million in Regional Revenues through three funding programs to help make this project a reality. This investment was a significant step in reducing congestion along the busy Dulles Corridor.
