Attend Our Open House!

Join us for an interactive Open House on July 23 to learn about Northern Virginia’s long range transportation plan, TransAction, and share your ideas for the future of transportation in Northern Virginia. This community event is an opportunity to provide feedback on what is working well today, discuss current transportation challenges with staff and help shape future regional transportation projects. The Open House will be held at NVTA’s office (2600 Park Tower Drive Suite 601, Vienna, VA 22180) from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. This is a drop-in style event, so come any time.

Virginia is #1!

Celebrations were in order! NVTA was proud to celebrate Virginia as #1 in the nation for Best Workplaces for Commuters (BWC) designations and host partners from across the Commonwealth for the official launch of the 2027 BWC application cycle.

Together, we recognized the organizations helping improve employee wellbeing, expand transportation choices, reduce congestion, and improve air quality through

commuter-friendly programs and benefits.

NVTA Recognized as a

2026 Commuter Champion

NVTA is proud to have been awarded the 2026 Champion Trophy for the Small Virginia Employer category in the goDMV Commuter Competition! Promoting transportation choices is at the core of what we do, and we are honored to be recognized for supporting those same options within our workplace.

During the six-week competition period from April 1 through May 15, NVTA employees made a measurable impact:

◆ Total miles reduced – 2,673

◆ Total gallons of fuel saved – 148.50

◆ Total commuter costs saved - $1,710

NVTA's FY2026–2031 Six Year Program (SYP) Update

NVTA staff reviewed 27 projects requested by eight jurisdictions, totaling $1.26 billion in funding requests for the FY2026–2031 Six Year Program cycle. With nearly $776 million in PayGo funding available, staff recommendations were presented to and endorsed by the Planning Coordination Advisory Committee (PCAC), Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), and Planning and Programming Committee (PPC) during their June meetings. The PPC's recommendations will be presented to the Authority during the July 9 meeting for consideration and anticipated adoption.

On Tour: NVTA's Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Action Plan

NVTA CEO Monica Backmon is presenting NVTA's Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Action Plan to jurisdictions across NoVA. During her presentations, Ms. Backmon is highlighting key BRT projects identified in individual jurisdictions, discussing potential benefits of a connected BRT network, outlining next steps and the ongoing regional coordination necessary.
