STEM is the foundation for innovative problem-solving and discovery through exploratory learning. It is important for teachers, students, parents, businesses and communities to connect and have awareness, and access to world-class STEM education opportunities. In Northwest Iowa, we are committed to growing STEM education and opportunities.
Winter STEM Festival

The Winter STEM Festival was held on December 28, 2017 in  Carroll.  Children in grades 2-6  attended from the surrounding areas.  Attendees enjoyed learning a variety of STEM activities such as making snow plows after checking out the Carroll Works Department snow plow, creating Ozobot paths, programing Bee Bots, and exploring the arctic through virtual reality goggles.

The event that was held at Des Moines Area Community College.  Presenters were teachers from the area schools, library, and Iowa State Extension Offices. It was a great interactive day during the holiday break!

Executive Director, Jeff Weld, Shares Iowa STEM Stor y in Washington D.C.

Iowa STEM's Jeff Weld will      be on leave from Iowa STEM, on a Fellowship    at the Office of Science and Technology Policy in Washington D.C.  as STEM Policy Advisor.  Weld will spend the next year sharing Iowa's successes with STEM at a national level.  We will miss him greatly this coming year, but we look forward to his return next December with all of the knowledge he has gained.  This fellowship will only make Iowa STEM stronger!
Well Done, Mr. Weld!
