Opportunity Now Colorado
Letter of Intent Due Jan. 24, 2024 | Grant Program Guidelines HERE. The Colorado Office of Economic Development & International Trade (OEDIT) is pleased to announce this grant program designed to help communities across the state connect more Coloradans with in-demand, high-skill, high-wage occupations. The program will provide nearly $85 million in grant funds to collaborative initiatives that improve access to jobs that provide good wages; help close regional workforce shortages; and work on long-term partnerships between industry, education and workforce providers. The first application period is open until January 24, 2023, with more to follow in 2023 and 2024.
Economic Development Organization Action Grant
Deadline Feb. 15 | Grant Guidelines here. The Colorado Office of Economic Development & International Trade is partnering with the Economic Development Council of Colorado to provide Action Grants to Colorado-based Economic Development Organizations (EDOs) in their economic development, programming, and advancement efforts in service to their local business communities. Action Grants will be provided in the range of $25,000 and $40,000. Use of the grant funds for capacity, operational, and/or personnel support is allowable if it helps expand an economic development program or technical assistance services, is used for applying for grants and leveraging other sources, or otherwise helps drive an economic development initiative chosen by the applicant. Applications open on December 12, 2022 and will close on February 15, 2023.
Behavioral Health Administration Grants
Deadline: January 15, 2023 | Information on all opportunities HERE. The Behavioral Health Administration is excited to announce over $130 million of grant opportunities for local governments. BHA will be accepting applications on a rolling basis beginning Dec. 8. The first group of applications should be submitted by Jan. 15 and will be awarded by March 1. There are four programs within this funding opportunity: (1) Criminal Justice Early Intervention Grant Program; (2) Community Investment Grant Program; (3) Children, Youth, and Families Grant Program; (4) Substance Use Workforce Stability Grant Program.
Self-Help Homeownership Opportunity Program (SHOP)
Deadline: Jan. 23, 2023 | More info here. This program through HUD awards grants to eligible national and regional nonprofit organizations and consortia to purchase home sites and develop or improve the infrastructure needed to set the stage for sweat equity and volunteer-based homeownership programs for low-income persons and families. Land acquisition, infrastructure improvements, and reasonable and necessary planning and administration costs are eligible.
AmeriCorps Seniors Workforce Development Senior Demonstration Program
Deadline: Feb. 1, 2023 | More info here. This funding program seeks to engage adults ages 55 and older using service opportunities, certification, training, and mentoring as the avenue to skilled, professional, or para-professional career employment. Additionally, funding is available through a partnership with Public Health AmeriCorps for projects that address the public health needs of local communities, advance health equity, and create pathways to public health careers for older adults.
Department of Local Affairs Best & Brightest Program
The Best & Brightest program is a long-standing partnership of the Department of Local Affairs with several universities to provide two-year paid fellowships to work in local government. The program is expanding to offer paid summer or semester internships to both high school students and undergrads. The application process for Graduate Fellows opens January 1 for placement on July 1, while high school and undergraduate internships are available on an ongoing basis. Space to Create Colorado
Space to Create Colorado assists communities with the development of affordable live-work and commercial spaces. Non-residential spaces are available for creative enterprises and organizations that serve critical community needs. The program is the nation’s first state-led initiative for affordable housing for creative sector workers in rural areas.
Colorado State Outdoor Recreation Grant
Next deadline: Dec. 31 | More info here. These funds are made available through the Economic Development Administration (EDA) as a part of the American Rescue Plan Act. OREC will be accepting applications for projects related to economic development and recovery in the outdoor recreation sector. Eligible entities include government bodies, nonprofits, colleges/universities, economic development organizations. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis with quarterly review deadlines of March 31st, June 30th, September 30th, and December 31st of each year through 2025 or until all funding is allocated.
Microgrids for Community Resilience Grant Program
The CRO is excited to be launching a Microgrids for Community Resilience Grant Program in 2023 in order to build community resilience regarding electric grid disruptions. We are partnering with the Colorado Energy Office and proposing to leverage the initial $3.5M set aside during Colorado's 2022 legislative session for an additional ~$10M in formula funding through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL).
Colorado Waste Diversion Grant
Deadline: January 5, 2023 | More information here. The Recycling Resources Economic Opportunity (RREO) Program provides funding that promotes economic development through the management of materials that would otherwise be landfilled. Funds are available to support recycling, composting, anaerobic digestion, source reduction, and beneficial use/reuse.
Local Match Program for Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill Projects
Now open; will remain open until all funds are spent |Apply through DOLA Division of Local Government Online Grants Portal. Through an interagency agreement, the Department of Local Affairs, Office of Economic Development and International Trade, and Governor’s budget office, have created a local match grant program to be used for local governments to support their non-federal match requirement when they apply directly to the federal government for infrastructure funding. In Fiscal Year 2022-23, $6 million will be available to local governments, and additional funds will be allocated in the following fiscal year. The minimum request for local match funds is $250,000.
