Housing Strategies Peer Exchange: Accessory Dwelling Units 

July 17 | 9 a.m. | Virtual | Register for Peer Exchange

This monthly peer exchange series is for local governments working on affordable housing strategies and land use issues. July will feature speakers from Grand Junction, Larimer County, and more local governments to discuss their approaches to ADUs as well as a preview of DOLA's new ADU Grant Program.


Understanding & Managing Short-Term Rentals

Details here. Utah State University is offering an online course designed to help municipal leaders learn about the short-term rental industry. The course is aimed at small, rural, gateway, and high amenity communities. It will explore short-term rental industry trends 

and how to navigate the development of balanced policies and regulations to reach 

the outcomes communities want. Each lesson in this course highlights an important 

part of understanding and managing short-term rentals. Members of the Colorado 

Association of Ski Towns contributed significantly to course content.

MTN2030 Summit

October 7-8 | Riverwalk Center, Breckenridge | More info here. Hosted by the Towns of Breckenridge, Silverthorne, Frisco, Blue River, Dillon, and Keystone along with Summit County. The 2025 event will continue to emphasize collaboration and model replicable climate solutions implemented by many communities across the Mountain Towns 2030 movement, and will will celebrate some of the most impactful mountain community climate successes.


Economic Development Council of Colorado (EDCC) Annual Conference

Oct. 26-29 in Pueblo | More info here. The EDCC will host its annual  

Drive | Lead | Succeed Conference at the Pueblo Convention Center in Pueblo, 

Colorado. The conference unites leading industry influencers and thought leaders 

to exchange valuable insights. It will introduce innovative tools and solutions 

to address pressing economic issues within Colorado’s professional economic 

development community, and it will facilitate the flow of fresh ideas among 

Colorado’s foremost economic development professionals, business and non

profit leaders, and government officials. Elected officials can register for the same 

discounted rate as EDCC members, and the council is extending the early bird 

registration rate to July 15. 


GovCon 2025: Colorado Governor’s Tourism Conference

October 22-24 | Colorado Springs, CO | Details here. The Colorado Governor’s Tourism Conference is an annual three-day event for tourism professionals and industry leaders to learn and network. Participants assess current activities and find new approaches to market the state, locales, and businesses. Speakers from throughout the country will challenge and inspire attendees. 


Colorado Governor's Tourism Conference Professional Scholarship

Details here. Helps tourism professionals attend the Colorado Governor's Tourism Conference (Gov Con) in October in Colorado Springs. The scholarship includes conference registration and hotel. 


Tax Increment Finance Summit

October 24 | Pueblo. Save the date, more to come! Offered by Downtown Colorado, Inc. DCI is pleased to convene delegates from across Colorado for DCI's Annual Colorado Tax Increment Finance (TIF) Summit to discuss how to use TIF to attract investment to drive the vision set by the community.


2025 Community Builders Training for Local Leaders

November 4-6, Grand Junction, Colorado. This award-winning training engages teams of community leaders in an intensive, 3-day workshop that combines practical learning with team development and facilitated action planning. Teams identify a specific local community development challenge, and leave with a commitment to working together and a realistic action plan. Accessory Dwelling Unit Grant (ADUG) Program

First Funding Cycle open Aug. 1 - Aug. 29 | Details here. The Accessory Dwelling Unit Grant (ADUG) Program enacted by HB24-1152 will provide grants to accessory dwelling unit (ADU) Supportive Jurisdictions for activities that promote the construction of ADUs.


USDA Funding to Help Rural Towns Strengthen Housing and Economic Development

Deadline: August 7 | Details here. U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development invites applications for grants to provide strong rural communities the leadership and technical know-how to keep growing. The funding is being made available through the Rural Community Development Initiative (RCDI) program for fiscal year (FY) 2025. This program awards grants to qualified intermediary organizations to deliver financial and technical assistance that helps recipients build capacity to carry out projects related to housing, community facilities, and community and economic development.


Rural & Community Support Grants. Deadline: July 15. Anschutz Family Foundation. General operating and project-based funding. Eligible entities nonprofits and local government partnering with a nonprofit. The foundation supports nonprofit organizations focused on improving quality of life for individuals and families in Colorado, particularly in rural and underserved communities. Priority is given to projects addressing basic human needs, community and economic vitality, self-sufficiency, and access to opportunities. Eligible proposals should demonstrate community engagement, strong leadership, and sustainable impact, with an emphasis on organizations serving low-income and vulnerable populations.


Kaiser Permanente Center for Gun Violence Research and Education

Deadline: September 3 | Details here. Category 1 offers up to $100,000 over two years to strengthen the capacity of organizations or clinical settings to conduct research on healthcare strategies that address community firearm violence or firearm suicide. Category 2 provides up to $300,000 over two years to support new or expanded research on evidence-informed healthcare practices or clinical care models targeting these same issues. Both categories aim to advance the role of healthcare systems in understanding and mitigating firearm-related harm in communities.


National Forest Foundation: Building Collaborative Capacity for Forest Stewardship

Deadline: July 25 for mini-grants; August 1 for standard grants | Details here

The Collaborative Capacity Program for Forests & Communities invests in the resources, skills, tools, and support activities that make collaboration for forest stewardship successful. Funding must support collaboration or collaboration-based activities that aim to benefit forests and grasslands that are currently managed by the U.S. Forest Service through the National Forest System.


Bolger Foundation: Capital Grants to Strengthen Communities

Deadline: September 1 | Details here. The Bolger Foundation offers U.S. nonprofits grants for capital projects. Funding supports initiatives in conservation, underserved populations, health (including mental health), community, and education. Eligible expenses include construction, building improvements, capital equipment, furnishings, and other one-time physical needs. The foundation’s goal is to empower organizations that make a lasting community impact and encourage more outdoor activities that help create healthier communities.


Robert Lehman Foundation: Support for Visual Arts Access and Education 

Deadline: September 15 | Details here. The Robert Lehman Foundation provides grants to museums, arts organizations, educational institutions, and other nonprofit cultural groups with the goal of advancing the visual arts in both American and global culture. It supports a wide array of projects, including museum exhibitions, scholarly publications, art history lectureships, and art education programs. A key focus of its giving is expanding access to art education in underserved communities 


KFC Foundation: Funding for Capacity Building Projects

Deadline: July 31 | Details here. The KFC Foundation’s Kentucky Wishes program provides grants to support capacity-building projects that expand access to food and shelter in local communities. Examples of eligible projects include remodeling food pantries, creating community gardens, upgrading animal shelters, and repairing or renovating buildings. Eligible applicants must be local nonprofit organizations, or local chapters/affiliates of larger nonprofits, that directly serve their communities.


Colorado CHIPS Community Support Program

Deadline: September 30 | Details here. The application window for Cycle 4 of the Colorado CHIPS Community Support Program is officially open, The Evaluation Committee will make final award decisions by December 31, 2025. This program is a suite of three grants that are available to local and county governments; regional economic development organizations; and consortia led by those governments and organizations to identify, develop, and market local assets that are relevant to the semiconductor and advanced industries ecosystems.


Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative

Deadline: September 30 | Details here. The Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative’s mission is to provide practical support for efforts that promote safe, responsible use of off-highway vehicles; educate the public on proper recreational land use and wildlife conservation practices; and protect appropriate and sustainable access to public lands. Support is provided to nonprofit or tax-exempt groups, including clubs and associations, public riding areas, outdoor enthusiast associations, land conservation organizations, and communities with an interest in protecting, improving, expanding, or maintaining access for safe, responsible, and sustainable use by motorized off-road vehicles.


Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust

Deadlines: July 31 & October 31| Details here. The Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust awards grants to nonprofit organizations based in the United States that serve sick and injured veterans and their families. Supported programs may include access to quality healthcare services; assistance for veterans dealing with PTSD, traumatic brain injury, military sexual trauma, and substance abuse; support for mobility and rehabilitation needs, and initiatives that evaluate and address the unique needs of veterans from various eras of military service.

HB23-1253 Corporate Ownership of Housing Task Force Completes its Work

Read report here. The HB23-1253 Corporate Ownership of Housing Task Force completed its work on June 25, 2025. This task force was created by the Colorado State Legislature to investigate and document the presence of large corporate investors in the housing sector. The final reports and other Task Force materials, including meeting agendas, presentations, and video recordings are available on the SDO website.
