Dept. of Transportation - Pavement Resilience Funding
Deadline: June 26 | Details here. The Department of Transportation (USDOT) announced that they are accepting applications for their Advancing Sustainability and Resiliency in Pavements Program.
Dept. of Transportation - Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, Efficient, and Cost-Saving Transportation (PROTECT) Program (IIJA)
Deadline: August 18 | Details here. The PROTECT Discretionary Grant Program provides broad applicant eligibility for all levels of government to be direct recipients of funds. States, MPOs, local governments, and Indian Tribes can apply directly to FHWA. The vision of the PROTECT Discretionary Grant Program is to fund projects that address the climate crisis by improving the resilience of the surface transportation system, including highways, public transportation, ports, and intercity passenger rail.
Economic Development Administration - University Center Funding Opportunity
Details here. EDA's University Centers leverage university assets to build regional economic ecosystems. This year’s competition is open to higher education institutions in EDA’s Denver region.
Economic Development Administration - Tech Hubs
Deadline: August 15 (Phase 1) | Details here. The Tech Hubs Program is an economic development initiative designed to drive regional technology- and innovation-centric growth by strengthening a region’s capacity to manufacture, commercialize, and deploy critical technologies. This program will invest directly in regions with the assets, resources, capacity, and potential to transform into globally competitive innovation centers in approximately 10 years while catalyzing the creation of good jobs for American workers at all skill levels, both equitably and inclusively.
USDA - Broadband Rural Technical Assistance Grants (IIJA)
Deadline: June 20 | Details here. Provides competitive cooperative agreement funding to eligible entities to receive or deliver broadband technical assistance and training that promotes the expansion of broadband into rural areas. Examples of broadband technical assistance projects may include conducting feasibility studies, completing network designs, and developing broadband financial assistance applications.
Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration Program – USBR WaterSMART

This U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) program supports the study, design and construction of collaboratively developed ecosystem restoration projects that provide widespread regional benefits and improve the health of fisheries, wildlife and aquatic habitat through restoration and improved fish passage. Eligible entities include: States, Tribes, irrigation districts, and water districts.

Dept. of Transportation Port, Transit, and Other Funding Opportunities
More info here. A number of FY2023 grant programs and funding opportunities geared toward rural transportation practitioners are currently accepting applicants. These programs include modernizing port infrastructure (MARAD), training in operating commercial vehicles (FMCSA), funding buses and bus facilities (FTA), funding low-emission buses and bus facilities (FTA). Wildlife Crossings Pilot Program Grants – U.S. Dept. of Transportation
Deadline: August 1 | More info here. More than $111 million in grants are available through the
Wildlife Crossings Pilot Program. The program helps carry out projects that reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions and improve habitat connectivity for terrestrial and aquatic species. The funding may be used for construction and non[1]construction projects.

Climate Resilience Challenge Funding - Colorado Resiliency Office
Applications open June 30 | Details here. The Climate Resilience Challenge of up to $20M over the next three fiscal years (thru the Energy and Mineral Impact Assistance Fund (EIAF) program) will encourage and support local governments to promote and integrate climate resilience projects that capture multiple objectives across climate adaptation and mitigation solutions that holistically address the most high-risk vulnerabilities for the region while advancing inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility. Technical assistance support is available through DOLA Regional Managers and the Colorado Resiliency Office.
Main Street LIVE: Livability Investments for Vibrant Economies - DOLA
Applications open June 30 | Details here. All applications will follow regularly planned cycles of the Energy & Mineral Impact Assistance Fund (EIAF) program. Main Street LIVE will fund downtown public infrastructure and facilities. This $17.5 million infusion will reinvest in our downtowns and enhance long-term sustainability, add to the built environment (buildings, streets, infrastructure), attract workforce, and augment other energy and housing projects. The Initiative supports a reduced local match.
Transformational Homelessness Response Grant
Deadline for LOI: May 31 | Details here. DOLA/Division of Housing. to create a
future where homelessness is rare and brief when it occurs, and no one gets left behind. The
NOFA achieves this aim by advancing and implementing proven solutions and program models
that reduce homelessness in a holistic and sustainable way by targeting many of the key
underlying factors necessary for people to thrive: advance equity, improve overall well-being,
connect to benefits and stable housing, and increase employable skills and experiences that
allow individuals to meet their needs, pursue their goals, and achieve self-sufficiency.
Clean Air Program – Colorado Energy Office
More info here. This is a competitive grant program that funds industrial and manufacturing air pollution
reduction projects in Colorado. Manufacturers, dairies, energy producers, wastewater
treatment operators, landfill operators, local governments, and public-private
partnerships are eligible to apply for funding. CEO is administering this program and is
working with the energy efficiency solutions organization CLEAResult to provide
technical assistance.
Rural Tourism Entrepreneurship Scholarship
More info here. Enrollment is open and accepted on a rolling basis. This scholarship pays for tourism entrepreneurs and small businesses to attend a Small Business Leading Edge Training. If you receive this scholarship, the Colorado Tourism Office will reimburse you for the full tuition fee. The Small Business Leading Edge Training helps entrepreneurs start and operate a small business through courses that teach a foundation of finance, marketing, and management.
Colorado State Outdoor Recreation Grant
Deadline: Rolling; upcoming quarterly review deadlines June 30th, September 30th, and December 31st.| More info here. These funds are made available through the Economic Development Administration (EDA) as a part of the American Rescue Plan Act. OREC will be accepting applications for roughly $4 million in competitive funding for projects related to economic development and recovery in the outdoor recreation sector. Eligible entities include government bodies, nonprofits, colleges/universities, economic development organizations.
Colorado Community Revitalization Grant
Deadline: Rolling | More info here. This program provides $65 million in gap funding for mixed-use projects in creative districts, historic districts, main streets or neighborhood commercial centers. This grant will support creative projects that combine creative industry workforce housing, commercial spaces, performance space, community gathering spaces, child care centers, and retail partnerships for the purpose of economic recovery and diversification by supporting creative sector entrepreneurs, artisans, and community non-profit organizations.
Colorado Housing & Finance Authority (CHFA) Direct Effect Grant
Application opens May 1; Deadline May 31. CHFA’s Direct Effect Awards recognize Colorado nonprofit organizations whose missions align with CHFA’s work to strengthen Colorado by investing in affordable housing and community development. Details HERE.

Deadline to apply: June 9 | More info here. Entering its fourth year, GCPS opens the door for Rural Colorado businesses of all shapes, sizes, and stages to receive funding, up to $250k available. Any company located in rural Colorado has until June 9th to apply.
National Forest Foundation: Matching Awards Program
Deadline: June 7 | More info here. Provides funds for projects that directly benefit U.S. National Forests and Grasslands. Reflecting recent program changes, the focus is now on projects that inspire participants to get personally involved in caring for their public lands. Program goals are to create lasting change that will allow all communities, especially underserved communities, opportunities to benefit from activities on National Forest System lands or adjacent public lands. Nonprofit organizations, tribal governments and organizations, and universities are eligible to apply.
