Financial Sustainability in The Time of Covid

To ensure financial sustainability, colleges will need to employ a portfolio of approaches including a reimagining and reengineering of higher education, laser-focus on student success and closing equity gaps, while ensuring accountability and transparency.
2021 Beacon Awards
The Beacon Award for Excellence in Student Achievement and Success is an annual award to recognize institutional or programmatic accomplishments in student achievement and success at our NWCCU institutions.
At the Annual Conference this past November, three innovative implementations were awarded in the following categories: institutions with < 2,000 students; 2,000 - 6,000 students; and > 6,000 students.
Beacon Award Winner: Linfield University
A transformative experience for first-generation students shines at Linfield. The Linfield University First Scholars Program is designed to address challenges of first-generation college students, provide resources and support, and build upon the experiences they bring to campus.
Beacon Award Winner: Clover Park Technical College
Clover Park Technical College’s Multi-pronged Approach to Improving Math Outcomes has increased student success in college-level math, particularly for under-served populations, and has contributed to greater student achievement at CPTC.
Beacon Award Winner: College of Southern Nevada
The College of Southern Nevada’s Centers for Academic Success provides academic assistance as a consolidated and accessible resource to support student learning outcomes and improve academic performance and retention of students.
Reflecting on the 2021 NWCCU Annual Conference

Another successful year, despite being virtual once again. Over the four days of workshops, trainings, and presentations, we had a record number of attendees - representing over 150 institutions. Dr. Pamela Goad Retires from NWCCU
Executive Vice President, Dr. Pamela Goad has retired from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) after a dozen years on staff, having enhanced the effectiveness of the Commission with expertise in numerous areas. We take a moment to celebrate and honor Pam as she begins this new chapter.
