The NWFL Manufacturers Council participated in the 5th Annual TeCMEN Industrial Day, the Gulf Coast's leading aerospace, technology, engineering, and manufacturing expo. Hundreds of people attended the event including representatives from manufacturing companies and educational institutions and other professional service providers, and students. Employment Law 102

Session 102 will:

  • Include the following laws: PDA, GINA, ADEA, IRCA, EE Polygraph Protection Act, USERRA, EPA, Whistleblower Protection and FLSA.
  • Introduce laws regulating employment to enhance confidence in handling employment issues.
  • Identify when to partner with the Human Resources Manager for additional guidance.
  • Raise a supervisor’s level of knowledge of the laws and regulations, and lessen the potential for litigation.

2021 Florida Manufacturing Facts

National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) has published a report on manufacturing in Florida for 2021. According to the report, manufacturers in Florida account for 5.32% of the total output in the state, employing 4.46% of the workforce. Total output from manufacturing was $58.88 billion in 2019. There were also an average of 384,000 manufacturing employees in Florida in 2020, with an average annual compensation of $73,811.28 in 2019. Read the rest of the report HERE.

UWF boosts economic development in Northwest Florida through Industry Resilience and Diversification Fund program

The Industry Resilience and Diversification Fund program, administered by the University of West Florida, has completed its first year of operations after being relaunched in 2021. The program, managed by UWF’s Office of Research Administration and Engagement, remains open to new applicants.


Over the past year, the University has approved IRDF incentive funding for projects cumulatively projected to add 685 new jobs and resulted in more than $91 million in capital investment in Northwest Florida.


The IRDF program will remain open to new applicants until all funds are awarded. For more information about the Industry Resilience and Diversification Fund, visit uwf.edu/irdf.
