STACKABLE CREDENTIALS: Industry-recognized national certifications as well as the option to earn college academic credits.
On Dec. 11, 2020, the Florida Advanced Technological Education (FLATE) Center held an online strategic planning and implementation session and collected input from the attendees about what could be done to support the three goals for strong, relevant curriculum: outreach, student recruitment and supporting educators. The Department of Education has committed a portion of its Perkins Leadership funds to aid in the expansion and enhancement of FLATE in partnership with FloridaMakes. The department is asking key stakeholders to engage in the vision and goal setting of “FLATE 2.0.”
“Understanding that the principal aim is to develop first-in-class workforce education and training system for all things advanced manufacturing and technology and engineering technology, how shall FLATE act as a complementary force, convener, recruiter, curriculum developer or professional development provider?” asked Chancellor Henry Mack of the Florida DOE.
The manufacturing industry community is asked to participate in this survey to help the DOE decide how to move forward. More information and they survey can be found HERE.
