A Letter from the Chair
Shari Carlozzi, Director of Safety Services at WTI & NWIR Chair

Making our voices heard.
When you think back to how women's rights have grown and developed over the past century, we really have come a long way. The right to vote and NOW (National Organization of Women) really opened up new opportunities and new discussions for the empowerment of women.
Just think about now much different our lives, jobs, and life experiences are from those of our mothers and grandmothers! Two-income opportunities, not because we have to, but because we want to! Buying cars, homes, our careers, being economically self-sufficient... taking ownership for what we do and how we live on our own terms. The differences are staggering... but as Oprah stated earlier this year, we're just getting started... this new generation of women.
Association Management Update

In June 2018, the Board of Directors approved a contract for a new association management system (AMS) and since then Ellen Thorp, NWIR Executive Director and Elizabeth Miller, Member Services Coordinator have been working to build and implement the new AMS. Commonly called a CRM in the for-profit world, the AMS will go live in early November as a new and improved member database, and also automates many of NWIR's administrative functions that reduce staff time and overhead spent on association administration. Each member will receive an email that will ask them to go to the AMS (hosted by a software called MemberClicks) and update their profile and answer a few questions.  Council leaders will be able to access their member lists with the click of a few buttons and members will have access to a searchable and interactive member directory. Over the next few months, the AMS will grow to include resources for committee communication and file sharing, an updated events and Council calendar, and social communities.

Another reason to love the roofing industry - friendships are born when you least expect it!
GREEN LINK Engineering's Sales and Business Development Coordinator, Dana Castle, was excited about attending the first National Women in Roofing Day prior to the 2018 International Roofing Expo in New Orleans. She knew it would be an opportunity to expand her knowledge, grow professionally and meet other women in the businesses. But, she didn't expect to form a deep friendship that has changed her and her son's life.
