This course provides the opportunity for the learner to develop the knowledge and skills needed to access the hazards and manage various farm rescue incidents.
The course will be conducted in two sessions:
Classroom:
This will cover the following: Overview & farm preplans; Rescuer preparation and personal safety; Extrication; and Incident Command System review.
Practical:
This will cover the following: Tractor types and rollover types; Stabilization during rescue; Tractor injuries; Tractor overturn rescue; PTO overview; PTO rescue; Farm machinery overview; and Farm machinery rescue.
This will also include Hands On Training (HOT) with overturned machinery. Full turnout gear is required to participate.
Prerequisites: Completion of Wisconsin Entry Level Firefighter or equivalent with signed letter from the department fire chief.
Student Equipment: Note taking materials (optional) and full set of NFPA compliant turnout gear.
