On behalf of its member counties, the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) has announced it's 2019 Legislative Program. View the two-page program here.

"The decisions made in the state Capitol have a direct impact on the ability of local governments to provide and pay for essential public services in our communities. As such, NYSAC's legislative program represents not only the needs of our counties, but also the concerns of property taxpayers across this state," said NYSAC Executive Director Stephen J. Acquario.

"That is why the key county priority continues to be reducing the high property tax burden on New Yorkers through mandate relief," added Acquario.

Counties are the first line of government engagement for New Yorkers accessing dozens of state services.  The NYSAC Legislative Program, therefore, includes a series of priorities within 19 different policy areas. For in-depth policy analysis, view the NYSAC Policy Platform.

"Our state advocacy platform is broad and wide-ranging because of our mandated responsibilities," said NYSAC President Charles H. Nesbitt, Jr. "In the age of the property tax cap and a struggling economy upstate, it is critical for our lawmakers to address growing state mandates and the burden they place on county taxpayers."
The New York State Association of Counties is a bipartisan municipal association serving all 62 counties of New York State including the City of New York. Organized in 1925, NYSAC's mission is to represent, educate and advocate for member counties and the thousands of elected and appointed county officials who serve the public.
