Meet William K. Ford founder of K Systems Solutions, LLC, a NYC certified Minority-Owned Business Enterprise (MBE) providing IT services for public and private sector clients in systems engineering, staffing, training, and software/hardware sales.
K Systems Solutions was established in 2003 by Mr. Ford as a means to provide consulting services while also maintaining his career in information technology. In 2015, he decided to leave his full-time job and began working on expanding K Systems Solutions.
One way of seeking growth was looking into government contracting. In order to be competitive, Mr. Ford sought MBE Certification. While there are benefits to certification, Mr. Ford advises other M/WBE firms that, "working in government contracting requires hard work and determination. A vendor will need to be ready to roll up his/her sleeves."
K Systems Solutions has worked with multiple NYC agencies including: the Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI), the Department of Sanitation (DSNY), the Department of Social Services (DSS), the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), and the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY), to name a few.
For more information on this vendor and other certified M/WBEs, visit our Online Directory of NYC Certified Businesses linked here.

Chalkbeat New York
New York City already had the nation’s largest youth jobs initiative. This summer, the Adams administration increased the number of youth who get paid to work or learn to 100,000, from nearly 75,000 last year, framing it as a way to curb violence. The program pairs youth ages 14-24 with paid jobs or youth-based learning opportunities.
