NYC Walk: High Bridge
and George Washington Bridge

Join us for a walk over The High Bridge and across the George Washington Bridge followed by lunch in Washington Heights.
--GETTING THERE--
9:00 AM train from Westport (8:54 from Greens Farms) to Harlem 125th Street.
Meet on the platform in Westport by the ticket machines
or find your own way to Harlem 125th Street.
Scheduled arrival at Harlem 125th Street is 10:00 AM.
After a restroom stop, we'll meet in the waiting room.
Please tell Warren if you will not be on the train; plan to arrive at Harlem 125th Street by 10:00 AM.
--ABOUT THE WALK--
The walk will feature crossing two historic bridges: The High Bridge built in 1848 to carry water from upstate reservoirs over the Harlem River to New York City, and the George Washington Bridge.
From Harlem 125th Street we will take the #4 subway to 170th Street and Jerome Avenue in the Bronx to begin our walk. We will head west to walk over the High Bridge to Manhattan to the George Washington Bridge and over to New Jersey and Fort Lee Historic Park. After spending a few minutes admiring the views from the Palisades, we will take a bus back to Manhattan and lunch "In The Heights." After lunch, the walk continues down Riverside Drive towards 125th Street. The entire walk is six miles; four miles before lunch and two miles after lunch.
--RETURN TO CONNECTICUT--
125th Street Crosstown bus (101, 125, 60 SBS) to Park Ave and the Harlem 125th Metro-North Street station. If shortening the walk, take the A train or number 3 or 4 bus to 125th Street then the crosstown bus. In either case, Metro-North train to Connecticut.
