Politi, M.D., FACP, FACEP, President/CEO of the NuHealth System/NUMC. Acting Medical Director, Victor J. Scarmato, M.D., MBA, FACR, added: "These programs will complement our existing and very successful residency and fellowship programs, enhancing patient care and medical education". Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center to Receive Millions in FEMA Funds
Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center received a $20.1 million grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help the hospital increase its preparedness for future storms and other natural disasters. Superstorm Sandy caused $11 million in damage and lost revenue at the 537-bed hospital, and the evacuation of about 100 of the most vulnerable patients. The FEMA grant will be used to raise the emergency generators to the second floor in a specially-designed building that has noise-reducing and odor-reducing features, to protect the electrical infrastructure, and to seal the perimeters off to flooding.
