A Request from our Elementary Admin

volunteers needed

Hello everyone,

As the beginning of the school year approaches, we are reaching out to ask for volunteers to support our kindergarten students during the first three weeks of school. This transition can be challenging for our youngest learners as they adjust to a full-day routine, so we appreciate all the help we can get.

Our priority is to fill the morning and afternoon volunteer shifts first, followed by the midday/lunch shifts. Please keep this in mind when selecting a volunteer time.

If you have some time to give and are willing to help, we would greatly appreciate your participation. Volunteering is also a great way to begin working toward your 20 volunteer hours for the new school year.

Parking Reminders for the

2026–2027 School Year

Dear NYOS Families,

As we prepare to welcome students back for the first day of school on July 21, 2026, we would like to share an important reminder regarding parking and traffic procedures.

To help ensure the safety of our students and maintain positive relationships with our neighboring businesses, all families must use the NYOS carline or park only in designated NYOS-approved parking areas during drop-off and pick-up times.

Please remember that nearby business parking lots are private property and are not available for school use, even for brief stops. We want to proactively address this expectation before the school year begins to help avoid traffic concerns, parking violations, and potential disruptions for our community partners.

Many neighboring businesses actively monitor and enforce their parking policies, and unauthorized vehicles may be subject to towing.

Your cooperation helps us:

• Keep students safe during arrival and dismissal.

• Maintain efficient traffic flow on and around campus.

• Preserve the strong partnerships we have built with our neighboring businesses and community members.

We appreciate your support and ask that all family members, guardians, and anyone assisting with student transportation keep these expectations in mind throughout the school year.

Thank you for helping us start the year safely and respectfully.

Sincerely,

NYOS Administration

New Outdoor Seating for the Cafeteria

Volunteers Needed

Hello,

Volunteers are needed to support the Eagle Scout project of Benjamin Hefner. We will be creating an outdoor seating area next to the building A cafeteria at NYOS Charter School: (12333 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78753). PTA is helping fund the cost of materials. Attendees will be provided with pizza and drinks. We will be creating a new fence, replacing mulch with decomposed granite, installing pavers, and creating benches for students to enjoy. The project will allow Benjamin Hefner to obtain his Eagle Scout rank and create a new outdoor seating area for the students of NYOS to enjoy.

Volunteer opportunities will happen from 07/08 through 07/10, from 5 PM to 9 PM. If you are available to help please fill out the form below to sign up:

Reach out with any questions to Melissa Hefner at mhefner@nyos.org.

Thank you for supporting NYOS and the Outdoor Space Eagle Scout Project,

Benjamin Hefner

New Amazon Wish List for NYOS District

Help Support NYOS Through Our New District Amazon Wish List!

As we prepare for another exciting school year, we're launching our first-ever District Amazon Wish List to help provide supplies for family engagement events, staff appreciation, volunteer recognition, fundraising activities, and other district-wide programs. As a tuition-free public charter school, NYOS receives approximately $1,600 less per student than traditional public school districts, making the generosity of our community more important than ever. If you're able, please consider purchasing an item from the wish list.

Approved in-kind donations count toward your 20 volunteer hours that we ask of every NYOS family at a rate of 1 hour for every $10 donated. Simply log your donation in Track It Forward and email your receipt for volunteer hour approval.

Every contribution, big or small, helps make a difference for our students, staff, and school community. Thank you for your continued support!

SAVE the Date for BINGO!

Dear NYOS Families,

Let's kick off the new school year together with one of our favorite traditions—NYOS Bingo Night on Friday, August 7!

This isn't just a fun evening with friends, prizes, and school spirit—it's also our first major fundraiser of the school year. Our goal is to see every NYOS family there!

As a tuition-free public charter school, NYOS receives less per-student funding than traditional public schools. Because we believe that small class sizes make a big difference for students, fundraising plays an important role in helping us provide the exceptional educational experience our families have come to expect.

When you purchase Bingo cards, you're helping support the people and programs that make NYOS special—from classroom resources and student opportunities to the personalized learning environment our students thrive in.

Here's what you can look forward to:

🎉 A fun evening for the whole family

🎁 Great prizes throughout the night

🤝 Time to reconnect with friends and meet new families

❤️ An opportunity to directly support NYOS students and teachers

Purchase your Bingo packs early to save time at check-in and help us prepare for a fantastic event!

Whether you're a longtime NYOS family or joining us for your first school year, we hope you'll come out, have fun, and help make this year's first fundraiser a tremendous success. We can't wait to see you on August 7.
