REFEREE CORNER
Coaches, parents and players,
The NYSA Referee Development team would like to remind everyone to have fun this season. Whatever the age or skill level, enjoy the experience.
We have a good team of Referee Coaches that will be out each weekend to provide feedback for both youth and adult referees. If there are concerns about a referee crew, let us know...but also let us know when you see someone doing an outstanding job. File either an online evaluation with the match #, or simply Email
[email protected]
.
We would like to remind everyone as well that parent/volunteers will be required at all U7 and U8 matches. A licensed referee will not be assigned to those matches.
For older matches, all though we will try to have a Referee at matches, not all games will be covered. We need more licensed referees and encourage anyone, especially adults, to become a licensed referee.
Coaches should have a volunteer ready on any match without a Referee.
Please remember that new rules are in place for this year. Specific to the build-out line, Referees instructed locally have been told that on a goal kick, the opposing team is to stay behind that build out line until the ball is kicked and it moves. Once that ball is kicked, they may cross that build-out line. It does not need to touch another player. Email
[email protected]
if you have any specific rule question.
No dogs at any soccer fields, even those at public parks.
Additionally, reminder to all players and coaches that jewelry can not be worn. Earnings or any piercings must be removed, even if it is a new piercing. NO EXCEPTIONS. Not taped, or covered... REMOVED!
We look forward to a great season!

NSC SUMMER RECAP
Northshore Select is looking forward to another successful Fall season after a very eventful summer. Practice began in June, but
NSC G06
had already qualified for the Far West Regionals of the Presidents Cup, so they started extra early!
NSC teams were involved in tournaments throughout the summer and many championship games were played. It wasn’t just success on the field that were highlights for NSC. One of our High School age players organized a ‘kick-away-cancer’ event that raised funds for this great cause.
The U11 and U12 age groups held fun jamborees during the running of the Women’s World Cup, and players were divided up into World Cup countries and played soccer games while families socialized and BBQ’d. It was a great way to kick off the season and build friendships in our wonderful NSC community.
NSC G05
White won the Girls High School U15 through U19 Sportsmanship Award while participating at the Kick in the Grass tournament, and this sportsmanship theme was reinforced with a packed house at the NSC Parent Rep meeting for a seminar presented by Positive Coaching Alliance.
Finally the
NSC G10
Ladd team spent an evening serving ice cream to our senior citizens at the local Brittany Park. They had a blast and loved sharing stories and listening to those shared with them!
