New York Power Authority trustees will be asked to approve a recommendation to award $1.5 million to the Vecino Group for the creation of an innovation center in the Midtown Plaza to assist business entrepreneurs. | See more at NNY360.

As construction of Onondaga County’s $100 million aquarium continues, local officials are starting to roll out some economic partnerships that will be created once the state-of-the-art aquarium opens next year. The first involves central New York’s film industry. | Read more at WRVO.

NYSEG is investing over $8 million to upgrade the Cobble Hill Substation. The upgrades will improve reliability, resilience, and capacity for more than 3,700 customers in the Towns of Boston, Colden, East Concord, and Glenwood. | See the story through WGRZ.

Ground was broken at Pier 6 at MADE Bush Terminal. According to the NYCEDC, the pier’s renovation and $25 million investment include plans to protect it from further waterfront breakdown, incorporate public green spaces, celebrate industrial history, and improve waterfront access. | The Brooklyn Reporter has more on the project.

Binghamton has received a $75,000 Empire State Development grant to redevelop the Binghamton Plaza. The grant will be used to create a redevelopment road map to find the best use for the plaza after the demolition of existing structures. | Press Connects has more here.

Site work has begun on a $22.5 million apartment development in Kings Park. The developers recently received an inducement resolution for a financial assistance package from the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency. | Read more on Long Island Business News.

A Central New York drone startup and another with ties to Syracuse University will compete for the $1 million grand prize awarded by the Genius NY business accelerator for the uncrewed systems industry. | Syracuse.com has more on the competition.

Years of warehouse development have positioned Orange County as a hub for logistics and light manufacturing. More Than $51 Million in Fast NY Grants Awarded to Five Projects Across Upstate New York


FAST NY is designed to prepare and develop sites across the state to jumpstart New York’s shovel-readiness and increase its attractiveness to large employers and high-tech manufacturing companies. The program, administered by Empire State Development, helps to diversify New York State’s economy by supporting site improvements that encourage new investments to grow businesses and create jobs.


Awardees in Broome, Greene, Monroe, Oneida and Oswego Counties are creating shovel-ready sites for high-growth industries.
