Montgomery County has awarded a contract to Ritter & Paratore Contracting, Inc. to perform demolition on a site that includes the former main Beech-Nut Food HQ. The next round of demolition work will come on the heels of local action related to the site’s redevelopment. Montgomery County worked through the Village of Canajoharie Planning Board to subdivide the Exit 29 site into three lots, in part in preparation for the E29 Labs project. | Read More at News 10
The Albany area’s warehousing and storage industry has grown to an average of 6,691 jobs in the first quarter of 2022, up 80% from 2020. According to a recent report from the Real Estate Board of New York, Brooklyn saw a sharp rise in demand for retail space. This increased demand has seen asking rents increase dramatically in some parts of the borough. | Read More at Commercial Observer

JMA Wireless is planning a $24 million, 100,000 square foot, expansion of its facility on Syracuse's Southside. The new facility would provide forty jobs in the community and would act as a hub to move JMA materials around the United States. | Read More at CNY Central

Mohawk Valley Community College and the Manufacturers Association of Central New York have partnered with Wolfspeed to upskill their workforce through a NYS registered apprenticeship program. A Rochester-area judge has issued a ruling on a lawsuit against a landfill that may be the first substantive decision based on the Green Amendment, although it still remains to be seen how the case will play out on appeal. NYSERDA Announces Availability of Nearly 2.5 Million to Support Environmental & Fisheries Research

The New York State Offshore Wind Master Plan advances the development of offshore wind (OSW) in a manner that is cost-effective while also being sensitive to environmental, maritime, economic, and social issues. Program Opportunity Notice (PON) 5226 supports independent research to improve the scientific and technical foundation for addressing key policy-relevant questions related to the development of OSW and stakeholder-identified environmental and fisheries concerns.

New York State Meet in New York Program
The New York State Meet In New York Grant Program was created to incentivize the return of conferences, meetings and trade shows that generate significant tourism economic activity by covering a portion of the cost of event-based discounts at conference spaces and partnering hotels. | Read More about the Program Here

New York State Tourism Return-to-Work Grant Program
Empire State Development has made $100 million in funding available to incentivize employment growth by providing financial assistance to businesses in the tourism industry that suffered economic hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Grants will provide $5,000 for each net new full-time equivalent job added, and $2,500 for each net new part-time equivalent job added, with a minimum grant award of $5,000 (or the average of one net new full-time equivalent job added from January-June 2022). | Read More about the Program Here

New New York: Making New York Work For Everyone Action Plan Unveiled
The action plan includes a set of 40 proposals intended to serve as a roadmap for the city's future and make New York City an even better place to live and work. Launched in May 2022 the broad and diverse panel of civic leaders and industry experts worked for six months to generate recommendations for the city and state at a time of historic alignment between the two. The recommendations center around how the City and State could partner with each other and across sectors to reimagine a New New York that propels the city and region forward for its next chapter of growth. Noted recommendations include Advocating to increase the Digital Game Development Tax Credit to drive more production to New York City and the region. The current $5 million per year does not currently provide substantive support for growth in the sector. | Read More about the Plan Here
