New York Tops Nationwide List for Green Building in 2023
For the first time ever, New York has earned the top spot on the U.S. Green Building Council annual list of Top 10 States for LEED. New York earned its number-one ranking based on LEED-certified gross square footage per capita over the past year, which lead the country in green building. New York totaled 201 newly LEED-certified projects in 2023 that encompassed more than 93 million square feet. | Read more on Business Facilities here.

NYS Awarded $228.2 Million in Federal Funding to Launch ConnectAll Municipal Infrastructure Program
ConnectALL will make grants to public entities, local or Tribal governments, municipal utilities, utility cooperatives, and their private sector partners to construct new fiber to the premises for tens of thousands of properties statewide. Broadband infrastructure in the Municipal Infrastructure Program will be owned by a public entity or publicly controlled and Internet Service Providers will use the new broadband infrastructure to provide New Yorkers with affordable, high quality service options. The request for applications is now available on the ConnectALL website.
Virtual Information Session Announced for Disadvantaged Communities Investments and Benefits Reporting Guidance
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) will host a virtual information session on Feb. 1, about the draft reporting guidance to implement the requirement that New York State entities account for investments and benefits in disadvantaged communities under the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (Climate Act).
