Southern Tier unemployment rates were up in 2023, but signs of improvement exist. The Steuben County IDA keeps close tabs on monthly jobless rates, said Executive Director James Johnson. Clinton Community College plans on relocating to SUNY Plattsburgh campus by 2025. The relocation is expected to generate significant savings, by reducing costs associated with building operation and maintenance, and via some shared services. The County of Oswego Industrial Development Agency (IDA) has approved $100,000 in funding for CiTi BOCES' planned automation lab. 2024 State of the State Address and Legislative Budget Released
On January 9th Governor Hochul gave her State of the State address in the New York State Assembly Chamber, outlining the budgetary and policy initiatives her administration plans to pursue this year.
On January 16th, she delivered her Executive Budget address. The budget will continue to invest in New York's economic recovery, the promotion of job creation, job retention, and workforce development, and the revitalization of every region of the State.
The Legislative Budget hearings focus on programmatic areas of the Executive Budget Proposal. The hearings will be available on the Senate and Assembly website and will run from January 23 - February 14.
