New York Has Landed the First National Semiconductor Technology Center Facility in the Nation

"This is a monumental day for the Capital Region and the State with the announcement that Albany will be one of the National Science and Technology Centers (NSTC) for Semiconductor Research and Development. Today marks the culmination of nearly three decades of public, private, and academic partnerships making Albany the Global hub for nanotechnology. This investment by the U.S. Department of Commerce of Commerce will ensure the next generation of Chip innovation and manufacturing happens in the United States and right here in New York. We thank Majority Leader Schumer and Secretary Raimondo for prioritizing the CHIPs and Science Act.

We thank Governor Hochul for her commitment investing in the Capital Region’s semiconductor ecosystem. The NYSEDC is proud to have supported and advocated for the passage of the CHIPs and Science Act with other state EDOs from around the country. This will give our members the economic development tools they need to grow their economies and create economic opportunity for their constituents. When local, state, and federal partners support the private sector and create an environment of cooperation and collaboration, New York will always succeed." Ryan Silva, NYSEDC Executive Director
