ADVOCACY ALERT

Changes to New York's Freshwater Wetlands Act - What it means and how you can help.

The NYSEDC would like to make you aware of public hearings coming up for changes to New York’s Freshwater Wetlands Act on September 10th and 12th. The hearings will be held virtually on WebEx at 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Sept. 10th, and in person at 1:00 p.m. on Sept. 12th at 625 Broadway in Albany. Written comments will be accepted until Sept. 19th. More information will be available on the New York Department of Environmental Conservation website. The proposed regulations, if approved, will significantly impact site development across the state, creating additional challenges and hurdles to build out shovel ready sites. As you know, the Fast NY Program to increase shovel ready sites across the state has been one of our top priorities and most significant policy wins. Regulatory proposals like this directly contradict the state’s goal to be a leader in industry attraction and expediting project time to market. Attached you will find a NYS Wetlands Update Memo that was provided to us summarizing the new regulatory proposals and our memo of opposition. We would encourage you all to:
