Recap of the Fall Championship Season

Girls Tennis Championships

The Fall Championship season started on October 27th with the 2022 NYSPHSAA Girls Tennis Championships at Sportime in Schenectady.


The three day event brought the best female tennis players in the state to Section 2 to complete for the singles and doubles state championships.

Game Day Cheerleading Invitational

The second annual Game Day Cheerleading Invitationals were held on Saturday, October 29th.


The east event was held at Arlington High School in Section I, while the west event was held at the Visions FCU Memorial Arena in Binghamton in Section IV.


Winners in the east were:

Class A - North Rockland (Section I)

Class B - Ursuline (Section I)

Class C - Division Ave. (Section VIII)

Class D - Westlake (Section I)


West winners in 2022 were:

Class A - Lancaster (Section VI)

Class B - Union-Endicott (Section IV)

Class C - Hamburg (Section VI)

Class D - Chenango Forks (Section IV)

Girls Team Tennis Championships

The Girls Team Tennis Championships returned to the USTA National Tennis enter on Friday, November 4th.


The best division one and division two teams met in the semifinals with winners advancing to play for the NYSPHSAA Championships later that same day.


In the end, we had repeat winners in both D-1 and D-2. Scarsdale (Section I) topped Port Washington (Section VIII) to claim the large school title. Byram Hills (Section I) beat Cold Spring Harbor (Section VIII) to earn a second straight small school title.

Cross Country Championships

The 2022 NYSPHSAA Cross Country Championships were held at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School in Section III on Saturday, November 12th.


The best male and female runners in the state came to VVS to battle a tough course and tough weather conditions.


Championships were awarded for individual winners, section champions, and team champions. To see more on the Cross Country Championships, click here.

Boys Soccer Championships

The Boys Soccer Championships returned to Section IX on November 12-13.


The top twenty boys soccer teams in the state came to Middletown, Goshen and Monroe-Woodbury High Schools for the state semifinals, with winners advancing to state championship games at Middletown HS on Sunday.

Girls Soccer Championships

The Greater Cortland area played host to the Girls Soccer Championships again in 2022.


The best teams in the state came to Section III chasing a championship in one of five classes.


Cortland High School, Homers High School and Tompkins Cortland Community College played host to two days of great soccer action.

Field Hockey Championships

The Field Hockey Championships were hosted by Centereach High School in Section XI on November 12-13.


Championships were contested in three classes, with twelve teams competing in the state semifinals.

Boys Volleyball Championships

The Boys Volleyball Championships returned to the Albany Capital Center on Saturday, November 19th.


The Section 2 venue played host to the best division one and division two teams in the state in this one day tournament.


The D-1 crown was won by Shenendehowa (Section 2), while the D-2 title went to Jamesville-Dewitt (Section III).

Girls Volleyball Championships

Another successful two-day Girls Volleyball championship was held at the Cool Insuring Arena on November 19-20.


In the end, five state champs were crowned after the field of twenty teams was paired down following pool play on Saturday the 19th.


The Championship finals were played on Sunday the 20th with the teams listed below claiming state titles.

Girls Swimming and Diving Championships

The Girls Swimming and Diving Championships moved to Webster Aquatic Center in 2022.


The Section V facility proved to a great host for the best female swimmers and divers in the state. The two-day event saw hundreds of student-athletes take to the water to compete for a state championship.

Football Championships

The Fall Championship season came to close with the Football Finals in the JMA Dome on the campus of Syracuse University.


Five state champs were crowned over the two-day event. We saw back to back winners, first time state champs and some of the most exciting football of the season.
