Latest Edition of Captains Club Released
The premiere edition of the NYSPHSAA Captains Club is out for the 2018-19 school year.

The September edition takes us to Cicero-North Syracuse High School in Section III to meet Jeremiah Willis. He's a three sport star for the Northstars and one of the best track and field student athletes in New York State.

Jeremiah has an amazing work ethic, infectious personality and inviting smile. Click on the image above to watch the NYSPHSAA Captains Club, presented by the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association.
Free Hazing Prevention Course
For the 2018-19 school year, NYSPHSAA is proud to offer all its member schools a free hazing prevention course.

The course is presented by Hazing Prevention.org and AliveTek, in conjunction with NYSPHSAA.

Community Service Challenge
Make your impact known with the Community Service Challenge!

NYSPHSAA has partnered with "Team Up 4 Community" to provide a FREE platform for students, coaches, teams, administrators, and schools to apply for the NYSPHSAA Community Service Challenge.

A challenge will take place each sports season. A team does not need to be in season to apply. The NYSPHSAA SAAC will determine a winner after each season’s submission deadline.

Submissions for fall are now being accepted until Monday, November 5th

8-Man Football Continues to Grow
WBFO radio in Buffalo reached out to do a story on the growth of 8-man football teams. This is a story that continues to get coverage around the state.With more and more small schools turning to 8-man football to keep the sport going in their communities. Read and listen here.

The Times Union newspaper in Albany wrote an interesting story on officials, parents and youth sports. We all know there is a desperate need for officials across the state. Chris Churchill took at look at what some officials are going through.

The 2019 NYSPHSAA Cheerleading Championships will take place on Saturday, March 2 at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Section V.
2017-18 Participation Survey Results Released
The results from the 2017-2018 NYSPHSAA participation survey have been released.

Again this past year, New York State had over half a million student-athletes participate in some form of education based athletics. 99.49% of the 787 schools in the association participated in the survey.

Nominate for the 2018 Excelsior Award
For the 9th consecutive year, NYSPHSAA and CSEA are teaming up to honor a deserving CSEA member who goes above and beyond to help their school and teams.

Two Fall Interns Join NYSPHSAA
NYSPHSAA is pleased to announce two interns have joined the staff of the fall semester.

Ashley Vanderwall has joined the Association as a full-time intern in the marketing/media content department for the fall of 2018. She is currently a senior at the College of Saint Rose where she is a communications major with a minor in Public Relations and Advertising. Ashley is a member of the Women’s Basketball Team at Saint Rose where she served as a captain last season. She is also a member of the college’s SAAC program.

Brian Minutolo has joined the Association as a part time intern this fall. He is currently a junior at the University at Albany, double majoring in communications and journalism. Brian made Dean’s List and earned the William E. Rowley Award for Journalistic Writing (Honorable Mention) his first semester at Albany. Prior to UAlbany, he played soccer and earned his Associates Degree at Ulster County Community College.
