NYSRA Update: COVID-19 Outbreak | April 10, 2020

Good News
  • Since Day 1 of this crisis, all Simply Crepes locations have offered each of their staff members (currently employed as well as laid off) a free meal each day! They have also committed to feeding the local children (all kids meals are free!) and have donated many lunches and treats to the local health care providers. Any first responder is welcome to stop by for a free coffee at any location! http://simplycrepes.com/

  • The National Restaurant Association has put together a new survey on the economic impact of COVID-19 on the restaurant industry. The last survey saw a tremendous response from NY restaurants and gave us great data that we were able to use with the press and for our advocacy efforts. Please take a few minutes to fill this one out so we have updated economic impact numbers. Below is a new brief survey developed by the National Restaurant Association Research Group and designed to allow us to continue to collect important data for our ongoing communications and advocacy activities regarding coronavirus. https://restaurant.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5sCkOXseJpwVFg9
  • The National Restaurant Association has issued an action alert on the problems with the PPP loan program and is asking for additional funding to help the restaurant industry. Click here to send an email to your Member of Congress and US Senators.
  • The FDA has published a guidance document for restaurants still offering takeout and delivery during the Covid-19 crisis. It offers operational best practices on hygiene, cleaning and sanitizing, and making sure any new procedures for takeout/delivery still meet all the proper criteria. The full document can be found here: https://www.fda.gov/media/136811/download.
  • The National Restaurant Association has developed a guidance document for all of the paperwork you should be gathering now. Whether you’re applying for SBA loans or filing insurance claims, gather the documents you’ll need and start to keep a daily log of your businesses’ finances and operations so you can reference your actions later. Use this time to organize such documents as tax returns, sales history for the past three years, monthly profit/loss statements, insurance policies and more. See the list here.
