Good News
  • Luca Di Pietro, founder of Tarallucci e Vino restaurant group, and a NYSRA member, has started an initiative called Feed the Frontlines NYC. “The goal of this new initiative is to keep members of our wonderful staff employed and pave the way for other NYC restaurants to do the same as we work to feed more of our healthcare professionals.   • The National Restaurant Association has issued an action alert on the problems with the PPP loan program and is asking for additional funding to help the restaurant industry. Contact your Member of Congress and US Senators here: Send an email to your officials

State
  • The NYS Department of Health issued guidance today on the new requirements for face coverings, read guidance here.
  • For NYSRA members who participate with Safety Group 505, NYS Insurance Fund (NYSIF) has mailed out notifications to schedule an audit for the 2019-2020 term. Currently, NYSIF will not be completing any physical audits, they will be scheduled later. NYSIF is encouraging Safety Group participants to upload all audit documents via the secure link on the NYSIF web site (www.nysif.com). Members will need their policy number, audit number or appointment ID to upload the required documents. The list of documents needed is in the audit letter. Please reach out to Kevin Cook, Jennifer Romanski or Sarah Cook with any questions on how to complete your annual audit.

  • Former NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg has pledged $6 million to help feed healthcare workers in NYC. Bloomberg Philanthropies is working with World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit founded by celebrity chef José Andrés, to provide the meals. The money will be used to expand meal preparation, but also set up contracts with local vendors and restaurants to help with the initiative. To learn more, go to https://wck.org/chefsforamerica

  • Melissa Fleischut spoke to Newsday about the Governor’s Executive Order on essential employees doing takeout and delivery having to wear facemasks when interacting with the public. The order takes effect tomorrow at 8 pm.
