Frontline workers now fondly refer to Luca and his people as "The Lasagna Guys". “It puts a smile on my face. It’s hard times...at least they get to eat something good. To think the food has been brought by and prepared by New Yorkers is a morale boost for frontline workers,” Di Pietro says. • Governor Cuomo announced that beginning on May 6 from 1:00 AM to 5:00 AM the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) entire system will shut down to allow for cleaning and disinfecting. During these periods of down time, the MTA will provide transportation options such as additional buses, for-hire-vehicles and “dollar-vans” to allow essential works and others to get to their desired destinations. Further, the Long Island Rail Road and Metro North lines will be able to continue their current normal operations during the scheduled cleanings.

  • Today, NYSRA and over 30 other business industry groups sent a letter to NYC Council Speaker Corey Johnson, and our other elected officials, to oppose Intros 1918 and 1923. These proposals, which require premium pay and ban terminations, including layoffs, without "just cause," would undermine the business community before we even begin to recover. You can read our full letter here. There is a hearing scheduled for these proposals on May 5, and you can sign up to testify live or in writing here
  • Council Member Kallos has invited NYSRA members to participate in a virtual Small Business Town Hall from 6-7pm on May 12. The hosts will be Council Member Kallos, Small Business Commissioner Bishop, and Congresswoman Maloney. If interested, you can RSVP at BenKallos.com/Events
