Federal

State
  • NYS Department of Labor has released guidance on a shared work program to help keep your best staff partially employed. https://www.labor.ny.gov/ui/employerinfo/shared-work-program.shtm
  • NYS Department of Tax and Finance issued guidance on the income tax dates being moved out to July 15. Read guidance here.
  • Over the weekend, Governor Cuomo extended the "New York on PAUSE" policy until April 15th. That means non-essential businesses and schools will continue to stay closed. Gatherings of any size for any reason remain canceled and all New Yorkers continue to be directed to practice social distancing — by staying home and keeping six feet of space from others when in public.

  • Drafted memo of support for Senate bill S.8125 which was introduced by Senator Gianarris which aims to waive rent payments for the next 90 days.
  • Continued outreach to the NYSLA about the delinquent list and COD payments.
  • The State Legislature began final negotiations on the State Budget and will vote electronically in the coming days.

NYC
  • Joined with the NYC Hospitality Alliance and others to send a letter to Mayor de Blasio asking him to lower delivery fees from third party providers to 10% during this crisis.
  • The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is operating a new app, called The Brooklyn App, to facilitate news sharing and communication for the people and businesses of Brooklyn. They have dedicated a business channel specifically to restaurants and wanted to warmly invite our Brooklyn-based restaurant operators to join the conversation there.   • Today, the USNS Comfort arrived in NYC, and will help increase local hospital capacity for treating patients with Covid-19. It is part of the ongoing effort to quickly increase availability of hospital beds in NYC and joins several other temporary facilities that are being constructed around the city.

Albany County
  • Albany County Executive Dan McCoy threatened to punish restaurants and bars who are violating the Governor’s Executive Order and continuing to serve patrons in their dining rooms by working with the NY State Liquor Authority.

WNY Chapter
  • The WNY Chapter held a conference call with 63 people today to discuss best practices for delivery and takeout.
