NYSRA Update: COVID-19 Outbreak | May 14, 2020

Good News
  • The Century House in Latham, NY is supporting its local food bank, but they didn't start doing it just because of COVID-19. In 2009, long before the pandemic struck, Century House began operating an “Enjoy One Share One” program. For all guests of The Century House who order an entrée for take-out, in the dining room, banquet, meeting or wedding, or spend a night in any one of the hotel rooms, The Century House provides one meal in each guest's honor through the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York. Since the beginning, they have donated more than 1 million meals! Learn more: https://thecenturyhouse.com/enjoy-one-share-one/

State
  • Central New York has become the fifth region in New York State that will begin its Phase I reopening tomorrow, May 15 at 12:01am (joining the North Country, Finger Lakes, Mohawk Valley, and Southern Tier regions). Here is the Map of the 10 regions of the state and a list of counties within each region for reopening purposes.
  • Governor Cuomo today emphasized that local governments will be in charge of managing the phased-in economic reopening process, which must include a daily monitoring of COVID-19 metrics that the State is posting online. Businesses’ and individuals’ compliance with State directives also will be enforced by local authorities. The Governor stated that specific questions should be directed to the appropriate “regional control room,” whose membership can be found here.
  • The NYS Department of Health has released new reopening guidelines for businesses in New York. All businesses in these categories will need to comply with the minimum guidelines established by the State and will need to develop a written “Safety Plan” outlining how its workplace will prevent COVID-19 exposure. The State has provided industry specific safety plan templates, but also allows the business to develop its own Safety Plan. While the Safety Plan does not need to be submitted to the Department, the Safety Plan does need to be kept on file with the business AND posted conspicuously at the site of business. Businesses will also need to file an affirmation of compliance with the Department.
  • NYSRA has washable, reusable face masks for restaurant workers and food delivery drivers. The masks were given to NYSRA by the State of New York through the State Liquor Authority. We will be handing them out at the locations listed below. Please contact us at [email protected] if you would like to request these masks.
