Good News

Federal
  • The U.S. House of Representatives has introduced a new bill, H.R.6886, the Paycheck Protection and Flexibility Act. Although the bill text was not available this afternoon many Members of Congress are indicating it would expand the timeframe for using the PPP beyond the current eight-week window. It is expected to come up for a vote next week.

State
  • Governor Cuomo announced the New York State sales tax filing deadline (for quarterly and annual filers) which was extended to May 19, has been extended again to June 22.
  • The Governor announced a new toll-free hotline: 1-888-364-3065, for employees to report employers who they believe are not in compliance with the proper PPE, hygiene, or social distancing guidelines.
  • The Governor also clarified that while some downstate beaches will open tomorrow, Jones Beach, Sunken Meadow, Hither Hills, Robert Moses, and Lake Welch Beach (Harriman State Park), concessions at those beaches remain closed.
