Congratulations to our Newly-Elected 2026-2028 Board of Directors!

Election Held Thursday, September 17th in Corning, NY at the 2026 NYS Tourism Excellence Awards & Summit

The 2026 Annual Meeting of the New York State Tourism Industry Association (NYSTIA) was held on Thursday, September 17 at the Radisson Hotel Corning in Corning, N.Y. At the meeting, the Nominating Committee proposed the following individuals to serve the 2026 -2028 term of office:


  1. Sharon Wyman (Discover Long Island)
  2. Shane Rhinewald (The Strong National Museum of Play)
  3. Nigar Hale (Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce)
  4. Tara Murphy (The Adirondack Experience)
  5. Tiffani Amo (St. Lawrence County Chamber)


Members voted unanimously by show of hands to affirm the slate of nominees. Congratulations to these board members as they begin their three year terms of office! 



Background: NYSTIA's bylaws provide for 21 voting board members, each serving a three-year term. Board members in good standing can serve up to two consecutive three-year terms of office.

Recently, U.S. Travel CEO Geoff Freeman and 11 travel industry CEOs took that message straight to the White House, urging President Trump to build on the momentum from a strong summer of travel.



U.S. Travel also has set a goal: 100 million international visitors annually by 2030—striving to make the U.S. the most visited country in the world. Policy pushes to reach that goal includes: removing barriers to visiting the U.S., restoring Brand USA funding, modernizing the travel experience and keeping essential workers paid during shutdowns.
