⚖️ Advocacy Matters to You

🚨 Advocacy Action Alert: Take Action on the Proposed Rule on Federal Grants

On May 29, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) published a proposed rule that would negatively impact federal grants across all agencies. The National Council of Nonprofits has put together a summary chart of key provisions. Significant concerns include: political appointees must review all award proposals and relegate peer reviewers to an advisory role, any active grant can be cancelled by a political appointee with no chance of appeal, and more. Security Bills Advance, Parks Funding Push Continues

The House Homeland Security Committee advanced the One-Stop Pilot Program Extension Act, extending TSA's One-Stop Security Program allowing eligible international travelers and their checked bags to bypass redundant security screening from approved foreign airports, and the SAFEGUARDS Act, ending the diversion of the 9/11 Passenger Security Fee, so revenues are reinvested in aviation security technology. Both bills move on to the House.

A new proposal, The Great American Outdoors Act 250, would reauthorize and expand the National Parks and Public Land Legacy Restoration Fund, tackling long-standing deferred maintenance while improving the visitor experience. U.S. Travel joined IITA and other industry partners in letters to the House and Senate urging that any new fees be implemented in a practical way, one that supports park funding while preserving America's competitiveness.
