What Does Tourism Mean To Your County?

2024 NYS Visitor Spending Update

The county-level advocacy handouts accessible on the NYSTIA website have been updated with data from the 2024 Tourism Economics report commissioned by ESD / I LOVE NEW YORK. Access the handouts here.

✈️ U.S. Travel: International inbound travel is slipping—and the U.S. is the only country in decline. International travel to the U.S. is estimated to have fallen 1.6% year-over-year in August, even as other nations continue to grow. That downturn is dragging our travel trade balance further into the red, with the U.S. already facing a $34 billion deficit in the first half of 2025—on pace to hit as high as $70 billion by year’s end.

🛂 The new $250 Visa Integrity Fee on all non-immigrant visa applicants threatens to make U.S. visas some of the most expensive in the world, sending the wrong signal to international travelers at a critical time for global visitation. U.S. Travel is urging the administration to delay implementation and Congress to limit the fee, protecting America’s competitiveness as a top travel destination.
