New Year's Resolutions & Traditions!

To kick off 2026, NYSTIA members are getting a head start on our 2026 New Year's resolutions and traditions!

Resolution - Pledge to Protect: Our Sustainability Committee has endorsed (and we have signed) the St. Lawrence–Eastern Lake Ontario (SLELO) chapter Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (PRISMs)'s Pledge to Protect, reinforcing our commitment to safeguarding New York's lands and waters from invasive species. We encourage you all to join us in taking this important step! Take the Pledge.

'NEW' New Year's Tradition: As we closed out the year, NYSTIA also joined the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, the Department of Environmental Conservation, and the New York State Canal Corporation in encouraging New Yorkers to welcome the new year with a First Day Hike.

Members of the NYSTIA team proudly took part in this growing tradition:

"Together with our pup Emmy, my husband and I hiked for 3 hours through the winding trails of Tegeler Forst, one of our favorites outside of the city. We were lucky to get a light dusting of snow which made the start of the New Year even more peaceful. We could hardly keep our dog still for this photo —she loves the snow!"
-
Rachele Markle, NYSTIA Communications Strategist

"This photo shows the joyful aftermath of our snowy First Day Hike. My family and I snowshoed Stone Valley Trail in Colton, NY to start the New Year! It is a beautiful hike in every season but absolutely amazing in the winter. We were exhausted and ready for some hot cocoa and kitty snuggles by the fire after this workout."
- Brooke Wilson, NYSTIA Stewardship Initiatives Coordinator
