NYSWYSA 2020 Fall League - Accepting Applications
Based on survey feedback and continued COVID-19 requirements, we are offering a revised Fall League for the upcoming season. The league is open to ages U09 - U18, and will be a self-schedule league (Dates/ Times/ Location) held from September 15 - November 1.

Return to Play Update
Travel Restrictions: Updated 8/24/2020
  • Tournaments of multiple games, matches, or scrimmages that require travel outside of your (COVID) region or beyond counties that border the one you are in (irrespective of region) are prohibited. 

  • Individual games or league play: No restrictions on a single match in a single day that does not require an overnight stay. This now includes out of state travel. However teams that travel out of state will need to quarantine after travelling to those states listed as quarantine states.

  • Teams from outside of NY State are still not permitted to travel into NY State at this time.

US Youth Soccer Updates
National Showcase Series Registration Deadline - Friday, August 28th

We want to take a moment to remind you that the registration period is currently open for the 2020-21 USYS National League Showcase Series and National League Playoffs. Please note that applications will be accepted through Aug. 28, 2020.
All teams in the Premier I Division and Club vs. Club Division (where applicable) of each National League Conference are required to attend at least one showcase during the 2020-21 season. The Showcase Series will feature all 14U-19U* teams in the top divisions of the Conferences and provide opportunities for cross-Conference play and added exposure to scouts. 
Teams that accepted a spot in the 2020-21 National League Playoffs must also fill out a registration form for its previously determined event.

2020 - 2021 ODP Tryouts Announced
Are you looking for an opportunity to play with and against some of the best players in your area and around the state? Are you looking for a good way to supplement the training that you are getting with your local club team? Are you looking to develop your game through exposure to high level coaching and in a competitive environment? If so, then the NYW Olympic Development Program is something you will want to be a part of.

Coaching Education Coming Soon!
Upcoming coaching courses are being finalized. Following are potential dates being confirmed in Rochester.
  • D License - September 18-20 (Weekend 1) and November 6-8 (Weekend 2)
  • Grassroots 9v9 and 11v11 - September 9 or 16

2020 NYW Academy Registration Open
Are you a soccer player born in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 or 2011? 2020 - 2021 Seasonal Registration Open
NYSW Player registration for the 2020 - 2021 season is now open. The seasonal year runs from September 1, 2020 - August 31, 2021.

NYSW will support registered players born in 2001 (20U) as per the USYS Birth Year Modification for the upcoming season. Make sure to confirm the correct Date of Birth for all players upon registration.

All players must be registered by their club in RosterPro prior to any practices or team events to ensure medical insurance and liability coverage

Minor Athlete and Parent SafeSport Training
Policy 212-3 requires members to offer SafeSport training to youth participants. The U.S. Center for SafeSport offers this training free of charge to anyone.

This training is available without creating an account or going through the NGB Portal, and you can offer this training to your players and parents, but note that parental consent is required for any minor athlete to complete the training.
Teaching the Mental Side of Youth Soccer
Even though U.S. Soccer has designated the psychological component as the 4th pillar of player development, it is the one that is the most difficult for coaches to develop and the pillar that has the fewest resources for coaches and players.

And yet, that psychological component might be the most important pillar of development, especially for players hoping to compete at an elite level.
