Reminder - Share Your Thoughts on the Final Name Options for the New Elementary School
The process of naming TESD’s new elementary school is well underway. In November, the School Board Ad Hoc Public Information Committee met to establish the naming process and define parameters for name options. From November 8 through December 6, the District invited the community to share their creative ideas, and we were thrilled to receive a wide range of thoughtful suggestions from our engaged residents.
In January, the Committee reviewed the submissions and narrowed them down to four final options:
-
Bear Hill Elementary School - (The stretch of road from the Swedesford/Howellville intersection west to Lancaster Ave is Bear Hill Road, or Route 252.)
-
Blue Heron Elementary School - (The pond at the rear of the new school property has been the location of blue heron sightings in the past, and the Chester Valley Trail Heron Rookery is approximately 1,000 feet to the northeast of the new school property.)
-
Bluestone Elementary School - (The Howellville area was previously home to at least seven different quarries and four separate quarry operations. The quarries contained a specific type of limestone called bluestone.)
-
Covered Bridge Elementary School - (Tredyffrin Township is home to the historic Knox Covered Bridge in Valley Forge National Historical Park.)
Now, we need your input! From January 31 to February 12, the District will accept community feedback on the final name options through a form on our website. Your voice is essential in helping us choose a name that reflects the community’s vision. Click here to submit feedback on the final name options.
The Ad Hoc Public Information Committee will reconvene on March 18, 2025 to select a final name to recommend to the full School Board. The final decision will be considered at the March 24, 2025 Regular School Board Meeting.
We encourage you to share your thoughts by:
-
Completing the online feedback form on the District website.
- Attending the March 18, 2025 Ad Hoc Public Information Committee meeting.
Thank you for your continued participation in this exciting process. Together, we will select a name that will inspire generations of students to come.

Conestoga High School Gives Back: Students Unite for Service, Sustainability, and Support
The Conestoga High School community has once again demonstrated its generosity and commitment to service through a series of impactful initiatives this school year. Students and staff came together for the annual blood drive, collecting 76 units for the Red Cross, along with a $2,500 donation to support local blood drive efforts. The canned food drive was a resounding success, gathering over 5,600 cans for the Great Valley Food Cupboard to help local families in need. The holiday spirit was alive with the Toys for Tots drive, which resulted in over 300 donated toys for children in need. Meanwhile, the Peer Mediation Team hosted a book drive in partnership with the Philly Book Bank, collecting 1,000 books for Martin Luther King High School in Philadelphia. Additionally, Conestoga collaborated with the CHOP Auxiliary to support the Homeless Health Initiative by gathering hats, gloves, and scarves for families facing housing insecurity.
Environmental stewardship was also a focus, with The Plastics Club leading the charge in the NexTrex Challenge to collect and recycle soft plastics, aiming to surpass last year’s 1,000-pound benchmark. In response to the devastation caused by Tropical Storm Helene, the school rallied together to raise $2,500 for hurricane relief in North Carolina, with students contributing through school-wide collections and fundraising events at local football games. These collective efforts reflect Conestoga’s deep-rooted culture of giving and community engagement, making a tangible difference both locally and beyond.
