City of waterloo neighbourhoods: strong and connected.

Hey, neighbour!

Some areas in Waterloo don’t have an official neighbourhood name yet. If you, or someone you know, lives in one of these spots, we’d love to help give it a name! Send an email to us at neighbourhoods@waterloo.ca to get started.

As a way to foster community connections in these areas, we'll be hosting mini pop up events to chat with neighbours over the next few weeks. Come say hi if you see us around!

Not sure if your neighbourhood has a name? Use our interactive neighbourhood map.

Why is a name important? It's a way to celebrate where you live and promote a sense of neighbourhood pride and connections!

Get involved

Help make your local park better!

Each year, volunteers across Waterloo lead hands-on community projects to care for the green spaces we all share.

Explore upcoming events on the community calendar to get involved in what's happening in your neighbourhood. Or, sign up to lead your own community program in a park.

A neighbour shared that seeing all the groundhogs around Laurier campus is something that makes them smile.

Clean up and connect

Neighbours in Wissler Old Abbey came together to host a community park clean-up, showing the power of teamwork and neighbourhood connection.

With gloves, garbage bags and a quick snack break, they turned a simple act of service into a fun and earth-friendly event.

This event was supported by our mini grant. Apply and get funding to do something similar in your neighbourhood!
