Q&A: Bridge Update, How to Stay Connected, State-of-City Address
In this month's column, I'll provide updates on how you can stay informed with what's going on in your city; more on the multi-use trail and how it will connect to the new pedestrian bridge; and how and when I will deliver my annual state-of-the-address.

'Corners Connector' Chosen as Name for City's Multi-Use Trail
The mayor and council and city leaders gathered recently to celebrate the opening of a new section of its multi-use trail, and to announce the winner in the "name-the-trail contest."
Long time reside Randy Gilbert's entry "Corners Connector" was chosen as the name for the city's new trail system, that when complete will wind through the community connecting neighborhoods to parks, shops, restaurants and offices.

Health Care Staffing Co. Relocating HQ to City, Adding 400 Jobs
Soliant, a health care and education staffing company announced Aug. 21, 2020 it is relocating its headquarters to Peachtree Corners.
The company will move its national headquarters to a 58,000 square-foot space in the former Career Builder building in Technology Park Atlanta. The move brings 400 new jobs to Peachtree Corners. Read More

Sewer System Upgrade Underway
The Gwinnett County Water Department has begun replacing and up-sizing sewer pipes in the Farrell Creek area between E. Jones Bridge Road near the former Fiserv property and Peachtree Corners Circle behind The Forum.
There are no planned road closures, but there will be temporary closures to some sidewalks and the walking bridge between the Field Club's two tennis courts. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months. For questions, please email DWRConstruction@gwinnettcounty.com

U.S. Census Takers Begin Door-to-Door Visits
Peachtree Corners residents who have not yet completed and submitted their surveys should expect a knock on their door.
U.S. Census takers recently began visiting each household in person. The city’s response rate hovers around 63%, which means over a third of the city’s residents have not completed their surveys. Read More

Order T-Shirts, Coffee Mugs and More Online
Did you know the city has an online store where you can purchase items with the city's name? Shop for T-shirts, coffee mugs, etc. Several T-shirt designs available. The city has just added face masks. The masks are royal blue with the city's logo.
You can find the details on the city's website - locate the "Residents" tab then in the pull-down menu select "City Online Store" to view items and place your order.
Purchases must be made online. You will be notified when the items are ready for pick up at city hall. No walk-in purchases available. Here is the direct link:

Keep Up With Gwinnett COVID-19 Cases by ZIP Code
The Gwinnett County Health Department gathers data on coronavirus cases and creates a weekly report with information on confirmed cases and deaths, cases and deaths by race, age and other criteria.

Volunteers Needed to Serve on Redevelopment Agency
The City is recruiting volunteers to serve on its new Peachtree Corners’ Redevelopment Agency.
The mission of the Redevelopment Agency is to facilitate new development projects within the southern portion of the city, an area generally bounded by Spalding Drive to the west, Holcomb Bridge Road to the north, Buford Hwy. to the east, and Winters Chapel Rd. to the south. Read More

Buff City Celebrates Opening with Ribbon Cutting
The new retail shop is filled with handcrafted soaps and skincare products. Buff City Soaps is located at the Town Center, next door to Hollywood Feed.
Recently members of the PCBA and the City Council joined the owner and his family to celebrate the day.

Look for County Property Tax Bill in Mail this Month
The 2020 Gwinnett County property tax bills are expected to be mailed by September 15 and are due November 15.
If you have an escrow account, your property tax information is available to your mortgage company; however, it is your responsibility to ensure taxes are paid. You can make multiple payments as long as the total balance is paid by the due date. To find more information about ways to pay or to pay online, please visit www.gwinnetttaxcommisioner.com
Peachtree Corners property owners receive no tax bill due the city's zero millage rate.

Free Photo & Video Classes for Residents - Suspended
The city's free photo classes provided by Tytan Pictures are suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic and will resume at a later date.

Annual Burn Ban Ends Sept. 30
Once the Burn Ban has been lifted, please note you MUST first check with Gwinnett County Fire Marshall as to whether it is an allowable burn day.
Many factors such as atmospheric conditions come into play that affect whether you can burn, and this can change daily.

Flood Awareness
Flood Insurance mandatory for some properties
Our city is bordered by the Chattahoochee River to the north. Additionally, tributaries and streams run throughout.
As we approach the tropical storms and hurricane season, the city would like to bring awareness to the various resources provided by the city of Peachtree Corners for floodplain awareness.

Have you downloaded the new Corners Connect app? Find events, dining and entertainment, bus routes, city information, news, weather and more.
You can also find a parking spot within the Town Center and get assistance navigating to the available parking locations.
Use the app to report a non-emergency police issue, traffic problem, find links, phone numbers to pay your water bill and county property taxes or to register to vote. The Fix-It app is also accessible through the Corners Connect app.
The City's app is free and available for both iPhones (App Store) and Android (Play Store) users. Use "Corners Connect" to search for the app.
