How do I get a library card?
To open an account, we need valid photo ID and a separate proof of residence (utility bill, mail, etc…)
Why can’t I use my ID as proof of residence?
In Idaho, if you move, it is not necessary to update residence information on your ID until renewal time. Since a library card is free to city residents (paid via taxes), we need separate proof of residence to verify that you still live within the city limits.
As a courtesy, we allow the use of photo ID as proof of residence if the ID has been issued within the last year.
How much does it cost to get a library card if I live outside of city limits?
Our regular 1 Year Non Resident account is $52
Our 4 month Non Resident account is $18
Our Senior Non Resident account is $33
How much are your fines?
Overdue items accrue fines at the rate of .20 cents per day, with a limit of up to $10 per item.
Can I return library items from other libraries at your location?
Yes. The Nampa Public Library is a member of the LYNX! Consortium and shares resources with Ada, Boise, Caldwell, Eagle, Garden City and the Meridian libraries. Items borrowed from those libraries may be returned to us, and our items may be returned to any of those libraries.
We cannot, however, accept items from local school libraries or from libraries outside of our consortium.
Does my library card expire?
Yes. Resident library accounts expire within two years. To renew an account, photo ID and separate proof of residence must be provided to verify that you are still living within the city limits.
