This is the time of year when we are vigilant about the inevitable storms that threaten Florida communities each hurricane season. We hope to escape unscathed but must be prepared. COAD, Communities Organizations Active in a Disaster, exists in many communities. We are fortunate to have a proactive team in Charlotte County. Led by the County’s Human Services Department our local COAD is supported by the Gulf Coast Partnership, the Charlotte Community Foundation, TEAM Punta Gorda, the United Way and the City of Punta Gorda.

TEAM has partnered with Charlotte Harbor

Environmental Center to host a new event for kids ages 7-12. Join in the fun on Saturday, July 29 at 10941 Burnt Store Rd and ride the trails at CHEC's beautiful nature preserve. The fun starts at 8:30 am and includes games, live music, scavenger hunt, breakfast, and lunch.

Yellow bikes are free to the public but the program is sustained by the generosity of people like you. It’s easy and rewarding.

Sponsors are recognized by TEAM in a variety of ways: a placard with your message displayed on the bike basket (pictured here), media coverage, as well as recognition made at various TEAM events.

She is a veteran (as many of us are) of both Hurricane Charley and Ian. The message is clear. Plan ahead and save yourself a great deal of heartache.

Our city is enjoying a colorful rejuvenation of the downtown Punta Gorda in Bloom project which was damaged by Hurricane Ian last fall. Thank you volunteers for helping make it possible. Enjoy the display! Punta Gorda in Bloom is a local initiative of community volunteers, the Alan and Barbara Schulman Foundation, the City of Punta Gorda, PGI Green Thumbs, Punta Gorda Garden Club and Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce - operating under the umbrella of TEAM Punta Gorda.
