Nantucket by Design highlights the Island’s special combination of history, beauty, hospitality, and design sensibility. We are creating carefully curated opportunities for you to engage with world-class designers and speakers, celebrate at unique social events, and explore the Island’s influence on American design.
Over the coming weeks, we will explore some of these influences by spotlighting treasures and stories from the NHA archives and the work of our partners. This week, we take a look at Nantucket lightship baskets, a notable facet of the rich craft culture on Nantucket.
Explore the history, traditions, and unique styles of Nantucket lightship basket making with Nantucket's master craftspeople. And catch a special insider look at the new Nantucket Lightship Basket Museum exhibition, Weaving Nantucket’s Past into Its Future, now open at Hadwen House.  Special thanks to Stacey Bewkes, Quintessence, for her generosity in producing this video.
"Our theme this year is Renewal, and we look forward to incredible discussions about how design can renew not just a home but also a spirit, as well how to renew our treasured antique homes in a thoughtful way for modern life.”
– Kelly Williams, 2021 Chair
