2009 Match Vineyards Butterdragon Cabernet
Some months back we tasted and sold the 2007 vintage of the Match, Butterdragon Hill Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. We liked it and more importantly we have received a great deal of positive feed- back for having recommended that wine. A few days ago we received a sample of the 2009 Match Butterdragon Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. We had opportunity to open it last night. Had there been a second bottle on hand I would have opened it too. This 2009 vintage pours deep purple in color with just a hint of brick or cherry color on the edge of the hue. The nose is
ambly berry mixed with violets and spice. The flavor profile is one of
rich dark plum flavors finishing with slightly smoky blueberry . Finally, the tannin layer is
rich and supple making this Cab the definition of velvety and luxurious from the moment it is poured. The 2009 Match Butterdragonn Napa Cab is normally $65-$69. There is a push on this wine. We can offer it at $44.50 per bottle matching the lowest price in the country. We can offer an additional 10% discount on orders of 6 bottles or more ($40.05 on sixes or more), 52 bottles available
This Cab is in it drinking cycle and should show well for a minimum of 7 years. ( 91- 93 points Cellar Tracker )

About the terroir: Butterdragon Hill comprises eight acres farmed by Jim Barbour and the experts at Barbour Vineyards. Give these guys and gals a piece of Napa Valley hillside and they'll plant it with an extremely narrow 3×5 spacing and then stingily give it water by the teaspoonful until the grapes seem to cry out for relief. The grapes may not be "happy" but those droopy faces provide sophisticated flavors from lush, succulent wines.
Butterdragon Hill is located on the western side of the Napa Valley above Highway 29, just a couple of miles north of St. Helena. This vineyard was planted in 2000 with green bench grafts of Cabernet Sauvignon clones 337, 7, and 15 plus a small amount of Merlot. Its first vintage, the 2002 was released in Spring 2005.
