Napa Chamber of Commerce Endorses former West Sacramento Mayor Chris Cabaldon for Senate District 3 in the March 2024 Primary

NAPA, CA – The Napa Chamber of Commerce announces its endorsement of Christopher Cabaldon for Senate District 3 in the upcoming March 2024 primary election. Senator Bill Dodd, who holds the district seat, is termed out in 2024.

All candidates who had declared their intent to run for Senate were invited to submit an application and questionnaire. Those who submitted completed applications were invited to an in-person interview. The Candidate Endorsement committee interviewed Rozzana Verder-Aliga, Vice Mayor, Vallejo; Christopher Cabaldon, Former Mayor, West Sacramento; and Jackie Elward, City Councilmember, Rohnert Park.

Candidates were asked to respond to questions about economic development and the business climate in California; mental health; homelessness and housing; workforce and education; infrastructure and transportation; the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA); and wildfire prevention.

After careful consideration, the Napa Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors voted unanimously to endorse Christopher Cabaldon.

Christopher addressed each topic with vision and practicality. His fresh perspective is backed by years of experience, and he has comprehensive knowledge about the complex issues that the State Legislature tackles. He offered thoughtful details about the innovative and successful programs that he implemented during his tenure as Mayor of West Sacramento. He also provided specificity on solutions he will initiate should he be elected to the Senate that can be scaled to a state level or replicated in jurisdictions across his district to solve real problems that communities and businesses face every day.

Christopher understands that in some cases state policies and programs don’t reflect the real conditions in rural communities like Napa County. His commitment to changing systems, formulas and funding structures that can put communities, including Napa County, at a disadvantage is genuine and supported by specifics. He affirmed that legislative leadership must preserve our region’s distinctiveness by protecting farmland, native habitats, and natural resources while also removing barriers and providing affordable housing solutions that include the business perspective and are crucial to our economic future.

As a business owner, Cabaldon understands the responsibilities and difficulties of operating a small business in California. He has a demonstrated record of supporting solutions and initiatives that advance economic development and the interests of business, while being aware of the human and community impacts of policymaking.

The Napa Chamber of Commerce believes that Christopher Cabaldon will play a central role in advocating for policies and solutions that promote economic growth, create jobs, and sustain the health of our local business community.

The Napa Chamber of Commerce encourages the community and Chamber members to inform themselves about the candidates and their campaigns, and to participate in the upcoming election. As Napa County is a mail-in ballot county, primary ballots will begin arriving in mailboxes in early February for the March primary.

The Napa Chamber of Commerce, representing a diverse array of businesses and industries, plays a pivotal role in advocating for pro-business policies and economic growth in our community. It is imperative to lend our support to candidates who understand and support the business community - employers and employees - and who seek the economic perspective when considering public policy and making decisions.
