A Message from our Math Coach

Support Learning at Home Using IXL Online Learning

Naples Classical Academy is offering all scholars the opportunity to access IXL.

IXL is a comprehensive online learning platform which offers unlimited math and language arts practice across thousands of skills—all of which are aligned to Naples Classical Academy curriculum. One of the best things about IXL is that your child can access it from home, and work on developing skills specially selected just for them.

IXL is designed to help your scholar learn at his or her own pace. The program is adaptive and will adjust based on your scholar's demonstrated understanding of the material. All students from grade K-10 will benefit from using this program due to its ability to personalize and meet the needs of each scholar. In other words, IXL supports the learning of all levels of learners while rebuilding the confidence of students that have struggled in the past.

All your scholar's results will be saved, so you can monitor his or her progress anytime by clicking on Analytics. For on-the-go practice, you can download IXL's free tablet apps for iPad, Android, or Kindle and sign in with your child's username and password.

I am recommending that all scholars using IXL for math, first take the Diagnostic. This will identify where your child should be working and will design a personalized learning experience. I’d be happy to help if you have any questions.

All scholars have been assigned a username and password. If you need any help learning more about this please contact your child’s math teacher or me. Many classrooms have already taken advantage of using IXL.

Here is one of Mrs. Stett's 1st grade scholars presenting her visualization of the story's events. The class was focusing on using their imagination to create images for each scene.

DISCIPLINE PROCEDURE UPDATE:

Naples Classical Academy's Discipline Procedures have been updated in order to begin the process of transforming the culture of NCA. This culture of the school begins with the mission.

"Our mission is to train the minds and improve the hearts of young people through a content-rich classical education in the liberal arts and sciences, with instruction in the principles of moral character and civic virtue."

Each teacher has the responsibility of teaching and governing the scholars. This update should better allow teachers to maintain order in the classroom, which will help elevate the pursuit of academic excellence.

We are no longer storing Lost & Found items. All items that are here now will be kept until 2/28, at which point they will be donated.

Parents are welcome to come into the clinic before then and look for lost items.

REMINDERS:

Be sure you are updating Safety Check In if your scholar is in a club, sport, or carline. CLICK HERE to make an update.
Be sure when you arrive and scan in you receive the "green" confirmation, or your child won’t be waiting outside when you arrive at pick up. We have several each day this is happening with, and parents end up waiting longer for their student.
If you don't have a paper with a QR code, please search your emails for Cloudbadging or email safetycheckinusa@gmail.com to receive a new one.
Students missing ID badges: Please remind your scholar to always have their Safetycheckin ID with them for dismissal. If they need a replacement have them speak to Mrs. James at afternoon carline.

ATTENDANCE

To report a sick or tardy student, or to submit a doctor's note, please email Attendance@naplesclassical.org.

As per the NCA handbook, students who arrive after 11am will be considered absent for the day. Students who depart before 1pm will be considered absent.

As per the NCA handbook, Students who are habitually late to school and/or chronically dismissed early shall be subject to disciplinary action by the school administration, including, but not limited to, in-school suspension and/or a required parent conference.

If a student has at least five (5) unexcused absences within a calendar month, or ten (10) days out of (90) days, the student's homeroom teacher will report to the principal and a meeting will be scheduled to resolve the problem.

Regular attendance is important to ensure achievement in school. Please do your best to schedule appointments after school hours.

The Naples Classical Academy Governing Board is accepting applications for the school's

Finance Committee.

The primary purpose of the Finance Committee is to assist the board with monitoring and overseeing the school’s financial planning. Please send a resume and statement of interest to Susan Turner at sturner@OptimaEd.org.
