A Letter from the Superintendent

Superintendent of Narragansett Schools, Dr. Peter Cummings, recently shared an in-depth letter about our new school year, which will be starting on Wednesday, September 8th, 2021 in-person.

We have linked this important letter below for easy reference.

We hope you'll join us in welcoming back our students, teachers, and staff across the district for a year of learning together while focusing on keeping each other safe and healthy.

Please be sure to use our School Reopening website as a continued resource. We thank YOU, the school community, for all your support over the summer and in the future as we begin our 2021-2022 school year.
Brush Up on our Safety Video

As we enter this new school year together, we wanted to again share our Preventing COVID Training Video to help students and staff remember the guidelines that are in place for the fall.

Though not all previous guidance continues into this new year, such as one-way hallway walking and capacity levels on buses, this video still provides great reminders on mask wearing and hygiene.

Professional Development for the New Year!

Over the past week, our staff safely gathered in preparation to welcome back our entire district into our schools this academic year!

Staff professional development days included welcoming new teachers to the district through a 'New Teacher Orientation', our official 2021 Convocation on our beautiful athletic field, and a two-day PD where our district welcomed guest presenter Dr. Karin Hess, who has over 40 years of deep experience in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

We look forward to putting the finishing touches on preparations and seeing everyone next week!
School Committee Meeting

Our next scheduled regular business meeting will take place in-person on Wednesday, September 15th, 2021 at 7:00pm.

Those who wish to attend can join the meeting in the Town Hall Chambers at 25 5th Avenue, Narragansett, R.I. on the 2nd floor.

We are also working on a live stream, which will be shared once the platform is confirmed.

A Message from July Maynard, Yearbook Advisor:

Hello Senior Parents!

Even though we are just getting ready for the return to school, it's time for your student to start thinking about submitting Senior materials for the yearbook! Sales will not begin until the Spring, but we have a FIRM DEADLINE OF December 17, 2021 for the following items: Senior Picture, Baby Photo, and Senior Quote.

They do NOT need to be done by a professional, but PLEASE remember the following guidelines when having Senior pictures taken:

  • Digital JPG or PNG files only are accepted [Word, Works, Photoshop, tiff, gif, or PDF, file formats cannot be used]
  • Files should be minimum of 300 dpi, with a minimum size of 2.25" (width) x 3" (height);
  • Use vertical (up & down tall, not side-to-side wide) layout
  • Black/white or color images accepted
  • Wear school-appropriate clothing
  • Avoid icons/writing on clothes as images may be flipped in layout
  • Avoid props, vehicles, pets, and other large items

A single baby photo must be in digital format [JPG or PNG only].

A school-appropriate senior quote must be no longer than 70 characters, including spaces. Students should choose something that their future selves will look back on and feel happy—not disappointed or embarrassed—about having submitted.

DO NOT SEND ANYTHING yet; a Google Form will be sent to students' school emails to which will attach files and insert text for their quote. They will get confirmation of receipt and a yearbook staffer will follow-up if necessary to address any issues or concerns.

Anyone who misses this FIRM DEADLINE (12/17/21) will have the Lifetouch PowerTeacher picture, regardless of which year it was taken, as the senior image and will no longer have an opportunity to submit a baby photo or quote. Contact me whenever you need additional information or have questions, but please begin helping your student to collect these items for submission!

Best,
Mrs. Maynard
